The "Y generation"? :wtf: The entire notion of distinct "generations" is nothing but bullshit. One little fact that must be accounted for is that people are born every second. There is no "generation". Its simply a marketing ploy, for the most part.

The way I see it, my vote may not really count, but maybe I'm not meant to be here to change the world through my vote. Maybe the reason I am here is to help the world in some smaller fashion, such as in the work that I do.

What about some larger fashion? Voting is a pretty trivial thing, tossed down to give the illusion of participation in the decision making process of one's life and community. It's a joke. Doing anything you care about, that contributes to one's community, is much bigger than voting. The thing is, attempting to effect real change is a lot more energy and time consuming than voting.

The only reason it is a joke is because there are so many of us. When this country was founded, it was a much more signifgant process.

thanks for stating the obvious. The idea of generations is to ROUGHLY DEFINE something. We call all shades of blue, blue until it becomes indigo dont we?

The generation time line just attempts to illustrate the differences in the mentality due to the world an age defined population grows up in, in case you missed that.

Idealism shouldn't be lost, it has it's place.

You can't directly change the world, but what you can do is sow seeds of change into society's collective unconscious. The idea then becomes ingrained in the back of our minds, people are aware of it even if they're not ready to accept it. Some day, society may be ready to accept whatever you're pushing, but if you stop trying the word will never get out. Recent examples of this happening are things like desegregation and women's lib. Current examples would be things like same-sex marriage and legalizing pot. I think eventually neither one will be a taboo.

R.A. Wilson said that activists and radicals are the catalyst for societal change. Their outrageous actions and beliefs don't make instant converts out of people, but they can draw them closer to their side and shift the middle ground in favor of their cause.

But that's enough Jungian bullshit for one day....

I agree with what you say, however this saying may not mean anything to everyone, but if it means something to someone, then I feel it is a valid statement.

Yes and besides that, if we would all get freaked out by the idea that every DO has an UNDO, then none of us would make any attempt in every way and we'll become like rocks... I don't think that this thing would serve any of our interests, we're here to keep trying, we here to experiment and try to make the best of it... cool things happen too

Don't try, just do. Know what you want. Grow intent. Every- and eachone is the changing-stone of human concept and reality.
Dull cultural concepts are to be revived or broken down.
It is a matter of the NOW and the YOU making US
Existentially

Not necessarily, there is always a possibility in change of tactics, attitude, mind set, all of these influencing the result.

There might be however, in some cases, a will limit... which doesn't mean that if one would of kept trying one would of never succeeded.

I prefer doing instead of trying in regards of the NOW.
If it doesn't work, I still could label it a 'try'
(what I won't do)

So trying doesn't exist for me, because if something doesn't work, one hasn't done something right

Yes but it's important to be aware of the fails in order to learn from them so next time we don't repeat the same mistake. If we choose to ignore the "I did wrong" we could fall into the repeating trap.
I think you might refer to the fact that we shouldn't let ourselves emotionally left down by our mistakes, which is something else, nevertheless, this implies accepting our mistakes and requires acting in consequence .

Hmm, no worries about emotionally lettings down here :hehehe:
I simply think, if something doesn't work, and one is 'aware', one will recognize it and adapt oneself to the most possible results he had in intention. Not to give up all the doing, just adjust it in a workable matter.
Therefor the 'try' is never an option.

That's just it. Everyone is always saying, if they only knew, if they only saw it "my way". If people would just, wake up.

Well all we can really hope for is a conscious intelligent average.

Ok. Any ideas on how to produce that??? I know how to teach mtyself, and how to share with friends.

now blow that up for the big picture. And fix education.
Ideas??

I look at "trying" as something in the process of doing... I think it's an issue about perceiving definitions here

For me, trying has to do with dishonest intent (in the farthest sense).
Yes, maybe definitions.
