immortal consciousness?

Alright here goes. In college my friend had me read a ram dass book "be here now" Most of you probably know the story, him and timothy leary eat mushrooms, ram dass watches his body dissapear and comes into contanct with "a place that know" an immortal soul beyond the illusion of the body if you will. later in the book he says "surrender means you never die, what lives and dies is only the ego." Several other books claim this also from bhaktivedanta swami prabhupada, to ramana maharshi, A course in Miracles to jesus in the bible ect. I was wondering if anyone has had any out of body experience with mushrooms, or sober that would allow them to believe that consciousness survives death. I have had several amazing experiences and have my own thories but have never experienced this first hand either an out of body experience, or contanct with the atman. Has anyone had this happen to them during a mushroom trip, if so i'd be interested in hearing about it, i'm hoping something like this will happen to me in the future, and it is something true to believe in not simply a bizarre conclucsion arrived at through shroom ingestion which i know is also possible. Of his experience Ram Dass says "although everything that i had come to identify with life even my body was gone i was still aware, more so this I "knew" it was wise." he calls is finding the scanning device, or the unmoved mover. I want items that help my faith that consciousness could be immortal. A course in miracles is more direct saysing "Death is a central dream from which all illusions stem. It is madness to think of life as being born aging losing vitality and dying in the end, this is false perception and impossible to come from a loving god. Death is a symbol of the fear of god,without death there will be no world, all dreams end with this one." In answering the question "how will the world end?" they say can what has no beginning really end? the world will end in an illusion as it bagan." Saying the purpose of the world is forgiveness and will end with us being joined with god. On the question "What is the body? they answer. The body is a fence the son of god imagines he has built to separate parts of his self form other parts, it is within this fensfce he thinks he lives to dei as it decays and crumbles from within this fence he thinks that he is safe from love, identifying with his saftey he regards himself as what his saftey is. How else could he be certain he remains within the body keeping love outside? The body will not stay. If oneness still remained who could attacheked who could be victor. And if he could not die what proof is there that god's eternal son can be destroyed? The body is a dream." It's a long book, the basic premise is that since we wish to attack one another we need to believe in something to attack and be attacked if we forgave and loved we would realize our immortal spiritual nature and things would look drastically different. On note, (hopefully people will follow this is) if it's true that the world and death are an illusion even though they seem very real, i've had hullicination on amanita, shrooms, and dautra, as well as dreams that seemed real but weren't or at least sober people didn't agree with my intrepretation with what was happening. What experiences have people had that would lead them to have faith in any of these ideas? I've had one experience where i was told that god is love the reason and to find him i must love more,this was a good experience this doesn't answer any questions on mortality however. thanks, peace.

I have had an "out of body" experience before, but this is no proof that something survives death. At best it is proof that the consciousness of a living human can extend beyond the body...at worst it was probably an experience close to a lucid dream. I consider OOBs to be just a type of dreaming....as is our waking consciousness.

Search for and read the "THUMBPRINT" thread. I also wrote an account of a death-experience I had in the trip reports forum recently, check it out.

I agree with some of your points, but not all.

I believe that life is a Game and death is like the reset button. The Game is remembering that YOU are God and so is everything else (not just physical objects either...death, your thoughts and emotions...these are all God as well). So if everything is God and God is love what is there to be afraid of? Nothing. Not one thing. All fear is irrational if this is true. And need itself is an illusion. The need of a body is an illusion. It's the cosmic joke. God was us all along.

Ok, but why DO we die? Why does the illusion prevade? Wouldn't reality be alot different if this were true? I KNOW it can be. It has something to do with DMT and a widespread evolution of the interconnected collective consciousness.

This is what I have come to. It can be a very exhilertaing way to live if you can fully let go. It can also land you in a heap of legal trouble:thumbdown:

Lots of people dying and nobody ever yet claiming to have won the game :grin:

And my own experiences which led me to remember that I was God. Same thing has happened to other people. I believe Jesus was one of them. Jesus was very proficient in demonstrating this knowledge whereas I am not, however.

Let's just assume (I know, a terrible thing to do) that there is a 'God'. Not really 'a' God, but rather just 'God'. Now, we have to get a few things straight about our assumed God. In our assumption, God is

A. Everything, Everywhere, Always and Forever; a sort of infinite interconnected consciousness: God is One.
B. Unlimited. God can do absolutely anything.
C. Pure Love

So, God can do anything. Now what God has done here is forgotten that it is God. It is a Game as I said. If you had boundless foreverness on your hands you probably play a lot of games, which could be crafted any way imaginable. God plays God games. God crafted a reality for itself (us) that made it appear as though

A. We are limited and have needs
B. Everything is a bunch of seperate things and happenings
C. That we die, that things have a linear beginning and end, etc...illusions if you will
D. That there is no God, and that we (God) are at the whim of all kinds of things out of our control, that we need to be afraid of what we don't understand because we have no idea what the fuck is going on, the best we can do is assume that we'll just never know.

There are many purposes for the illusions, and for the game. Without the illusions the game couldn't exist as it is. And I believe that it will not if and when we all really wake up back into the boudnless eternity we came from; the DMT world - the next game. That's another thing, the game never ends - God is infinite. The game serves as a continual reaffirmation of the utter magnificence of God (holy shit for sure), and of us becoming and being God (unlimited). It's like the best thing ever, the greatest cause for cohesion and celebration there could ever be (whereas religion has been essentially the opposite...)

Like I said earlier it's all a BIG joke. God is laughing at us all the time because it's just so funny to see what God does when it has forgotten that it (us) is God (like the dumb shit we're always doing, like worrying and shit). God is a comedian.

/Assumption.

This just isn't something that can be conveyed in words.

I can say for sure that there is more to the reality/universe all around us than we've ever imagined, that we are all connected on a very deep level which a lot of people deny even exists, that everything is possible right now, and that it's all about the Love.

ok, comp messin up i tried to post this about 2 secs ago


anyway

if you know what the chakras are i can probably describe how to experience timelessness, pure love, and the ability to view the inverse of real (which oddly enough is still the dense physical world we consider to be real, you just have to look at it differently)

and i have had some oobe's but i feel understanding the chakras is our first job and ive decided to study them before i go treading out into other star systems and dimensions outside of my body when its possible to stay in your body and achieve similar effects/knowledge
