Here's a really cool song

--------------------
:bunny::bunnyhug:
All this time I've loved you
And never known your face
All this time I've missed you
And searched this human race
Here is true peace
Here my heart knows calm
Safe in your soul
Bathed in your sighs

Interesting question. It is always present in my mind, what best leads to the path with heart, today?

I'll have to stall myself from digging into those artists and songs i am going to omit, some things can be very beautiful and moving yet perhaps not of my now and no longer quite of the heart.

Hmm so i just did it. I was talking mostly about sigur ros. There was a great time and a place for them and though i still love the music they are perhaps no longer for the path, the everyday dharma. I used to sit at the beach and listen to them and often classical music, i think they were of a very emotionally grandiose time. Not that i reject that time and emotion, but now is different.

I used to listen to a lot of Bowie too, but he spoke more of the fallen alien and the darkness, linked to some of those i knew, part of the catalyst story and a shrouded existence, whispered to myself.

Also a lot of Dylan too. He spoke expertly to the absoluteness of my mind. The well. The trumpets and the dream. His lyrics were a story very much my own, interloping of course on his music. My existence, my solipsism, my burden and truth. My love for life and my wonderful struggle that had begun and is yet to come.

Ok i failed to stall myself. Never mind. These to follow are some of the bands that invigorate my path with heart:

Beastie Boys! - They really hit me with a left-field hook when i wasn't expecting it. Some real greatness in their form and lyrical allusion, and explicitation. Great!

You know, they are the only band that fully spring to mind. A lot of the things i listen to are warm and emotive, crystal clear strings and more, but perhaps they are not quite what i need to fit.

I quite like things to spring out and grab me. Guitar music though i may enjoy it perhaps becomes predictable and loses a certain quality for my keen and avid heartmind. It doesn't seek to wallow, which can happen. New guitar songs always have a chance.

Cannibal Ox. I don't listen to a lot of hip hop but i once asked at the shroomery for a roll call of 'cosmic' hip hop artists and these were one of the names mentioned. Fits the reach out and grab idea, great cosmic lyrics and the style and form of the music is unpredictable to me.

I think i'm seeing a theme here. Unpredictability seems key. Perhaps it is just me, but somehow i doubt it!

Emotive songs by Clapton and The Who for example, they can really get me, but again its a little reflective and not always what i would call the path with heart. Emotiveness has its place. Hymns like Abide With Me or Amazing Grace will always strike me though.

I recently started working at a nightclub as i humble glass collector, and i already experienced some wonderful moments of heart and joy there (my words may never do the feeling and perception justice) :1up: Crazy, simplicity. Loving kindness, praise, wonder.

Strange how doing a (menial) job can prove such a path with heart. Happy to go to work, earn where i have not been lately, hearing music, thinking, getting to know new people (it is a new club and there are 80 of us, all peers, all new). Won't necessarily last forever, my life seems to crave variety.

Sorry for such a length of post but im enjoying relating it!

Red Hot Chili Peppers have a certain immaculate charm for me too. They speak first to one part of my heart mind, then the other as it waits to receive and bloom. Its funny, i can't quite describe it. I think it may be quite an epic understanding and love that i find in their music sometimes. After doing acid for the first time i grew a massive affection for BloodSexSugarMagic, the next day. First that morning i listened to a little John Lennon, in particular Give Peace A Chance.

When i'm drunk listening to Neil Young or Nick Drake kind of blows me away.

I have a housemate very much into metal too, so i kind of get a 'schooling' on the music. It doesn't do much for me though. Its kind of crude, quite often, in its evocation of fantasy and psycho-emotional vistas (at least what my friend listens to) Battle-metal is kind of cool though, relying on sweeping uplifting crashes of old age rythym, note movement (does that make sense?) well anyway...

I like drum and bass and am keen to get into psytrance. These are musics that do it all for me, leaving me only the radiance of contemporary colour in my mind and the challenge of existing, i mean mostly when at a club or festival of course. The adventure! The mind.

And of course... playing guitar. The movement at my fingertips becomes more ethereal, yet always in tune with my path. For good and bad. Wonderful discovery and learning. Teaching, patience.

Then of course there is the Beatles, they remind me of the trip i never had. Weird.

Well i'm sure i've said enough! But i'm always keen to hear new things and be blown away by life and beauty. I guess that sums it up. The heart likes its beautiful surprises!

And i don't mean to try to sound the authority on things im not into, like metal. But these are my musings as i see them, hopefully as interesting to you guys as they have been for me to think on them, and order them.

And oh yeah, Ocean Colour Scene, blast from the past, heard them the other day. Caught a certain zeitgeist of my heart so they did, so it did, to hear them, lately! You can see the 60's in my freakin' EYES, manggg!!!!!!!!!

Haha cheers for reading

What music for you represents the Heart best?

The Moody Blues.

In the instrumental realm I like the Bombay Dub Orchestra and Santana.
