Growery is not specific at all. "Implied specificity" doesn't even make sense linguistically. It's a nonsensical oxymoron.

The entire earth is filled with life. Billions of species exist and they all grow. Humans have been involved with agriculture (growing) since long before recorded history, and cultivate many thousands of plant species. So growery is THE vaguest site name I've heard. I'm really surprised it's not taken even considering that it's a nonsense word.

Greenery would be far better. Even if it costs a bit if money it would be well worth it. At least green is a slang term for weed.

Reefery would also be a good one. It takes one of the most common slang terms for weed and just adds a Y to the end. It saves two letters off the base word, is a somewhat creative term, and is instantly associated with MJ by almost everyone that speaks english.

Growery is just taking a vague word not related to MJ and adding "ery". It doesn't sound creative or well thought out in the least. Maybe you could look at it as grower-y, but that really doesn't make any sense. Overgrowery would even be better since it would at least have some cultural attachment to MJ and link it to changing the WOD.

It just doesn't really sound like much effort was put into coming up with names. Probably even less effort was put into voting. Honestly we're trying to come up with a name for a weed site and we only came up with 8 possible choices? WTF? Weed has more slang terms than possibly any other word in history.

Why not spend some time coming up with a better name? Maybe start with a list of slang weed terms and start adding "ery" onto the ends. Then narrow it down a bit and have a more sophisticated voting page. There should also be a short explanation of the merits of each word for people to read so that they don't just spend 2 seconds voting and then just pick the word that sounds closest to shroomery.

Fuck, half the people thought we were trying to rename the shroomery!

I'm positive that reefery or tokery would easily win hands down if people took more than two seconds to vote and actually realized they were picking a name for a new MJ site rather than renaming the shroomery.

I don't think people are under the false impression that we're renaming The Shroomery.

And it IS implied, because it just is. Pot's the most popular drug in the world, so if someone asks another person "do you grow?", they're implying a drug--and the drug their implying is Marijuana--not mushrooms, not opium--Marijuana.

Sure, in many settings that's not the case, but pot's the most popular drug in the world, so it works.

Plus: the URL doesn't have to say EVERYTHING. You're gonna type in

www.growery.com

and you're gonna see a big picture of a pretty weed plant :potleaf:

However, I actually don't think we should call it "The Growery". I think we should go beyond the "ery" category of names :shrug:

I don't know how often I have to keep saying this, but we cannot afford it. Its not like a few thousand dollars, its TENS of thousands of dollars. The guy just wouldnt offer it up for any cheaper as I already contacted him about 1yr ago to discuss the sale.

Plus with Greenery we can't own .org/net/com.

Not true. 420 is known worldwide. I'm not saying that everyone is familiar with it, but it is in use worldwide. Being a number, it's not even restricted by language. There's also an April 20th in every country and it's a worldwide holiday.

uhh i seriously think Hempery should be considered

someone even mentioned above Growery is pretty awkward when said out loud

and Hempery promotes the plant in general, not just for marijuana but for any of its NON-DRUG uses

Well, that was a year ago and it hasn't sold so it's pretty likely that the price has dropped. Try offering him $100.

I countered his offers a few times, till I realized he was a moron. First counter he made was $80,000 USD.

So your $100, might fall a bit short since I'm pretty sure this guy isn't a vendor in a market on a mexican beach.
