SATA DVD burner
    #6820895 -

I'm thinking about getting a SATA DVD burner, has anyone ripped a DVD using one? If so, how long does it take? I'm at about 25-35 minutes per movie on my IDE drive, so I'm guessing you can get down to about 10 minutes.

But I want some input before I get one.

The bottleneck isn't the drive's interface, it's the drive itself. You probably won't see any improvement in speed from switching to SATA, except what you'd get anyway from going to a newer drive.

IDE has more than enough bandwidth to handle CD/DVD drives for now. I THINK the reason the SATA drives are coming out are to eliminate the myriad of different input slots on motherboards.

...and improved airflow with thiner SATA cables.
