HELP...........DVD burner install problem

I just put a DVD burner in my pc and for some reason, when I go into My Computer, its not recognizing the new burner, or the other CD burner for that matter.
I was having similar problems before, thats why I got a new one.
Any clues what could be wrong?

I am going out tonight, so questions might have to wait until tomorrow for me to see and answer, but by all means if you have an idea what it could be, please let me know.

be sure the master/slave jumpers on the drives are set correctly, they all have power, and that the ide/sata cable is plugged in fully...beyond that...couldn't tell you.

Does the drive power on? Even with the drive not recognized you should still be able to open the drive tray by pressing the eject button on the drive. If it doesn't open the tray then you have either a power related problem or a drive problem, make sure your cables are seated properly. If the tray does open make sure it is recognized in the bios. Depending on the type of computer pressing the F1,F2,F10, or Delete key immediately after you power your computer on will get you into the bios. If it is not recognized in the bios & if it is an IDE drive make sure the jumpers on the drive are configured correctly. If there are no other drives on the IDE cable then you will probably want to set it to master or cable select. If there is another drive on the cable you will want to set it to slave if the other drive is set to master. If the other drive is set to cable select then set your new drive to cable select. If it is not recognized in the bios & it is a SATA drive make sure your SATA controllers are enabled in the bios, if it is a SATA only motherboard the controllers should already be enabled but if it is a SATA/IDE combo motherboard the controllers may not be enabled. Also, the drive should have two cables plugged into it to function properly one data cable & one power cable.
