Bipartisan Bullshit
    #6822330 -

I am sure many of you on here already know how I feel.

I have been following the latest comedy skit on capital hill and find it all entertaining. What bothers me is that people (not all) still buy into the "bipartisan" game. IMO there shouldn't be two parties in america. Sure, one can say that we have independents, but that is just what they are. Everything is run by two (or one) parties.

Unfortunately, people and the world are complex places where there are NOT two sides to every debate or obstacle that reaches the political theater. We as americans seem to have been duped into believing that. Many people see a definite line between what is considered Democratic and Republican. Many of our politicians (including our very own commander in chief) believe this as well.

IMO, there is not a line. In fact, I believe that for the most part both sides have part of the right answer, yet there is a lack of compromise in many cases.

What bothers me right now is what we have going on with the war in Iraq. Sure, there has been a change in power within the legislative branch. Hopefully a good one. But we still have the bipartisan game going on here. I am glad that we finally have a voice helping to state what is going on in this war here. I am happy to see some legislation being put into place that will hopefully find a direction for this war. What bothers me is what our president is doing. He is playing the party game and attempting to tell republicans what to do (as we saw during his first term).

I hope that people can start to see the farce that is played upon the american people with the word "bipartisan". The american people are far more complicated and there are not two sides to everything. We need to learn to stop seeing ourselves as "democrats" or "republicans" (even the independents are guilty of this) and see ourselves for what we are, Americans. We have a right not to agree. I personally cannot find my beliefs supported by any one party. IMO, they all have some good within them. They all have a PART of the answer. We have just forgotten the word compromise. We need to stop defining things and ourselves as dems and pubs.

Political parties are pointless, but they'd create their own parties themselves if there wasn't an official party. All it is, is networking.

I agree with you there. However, there is a difference between networking and voting based upon a label.

I understand exactly what it means. But thanks for this little bite in the ass. When I was using the word, I was using it to DESCRIBE the political structuring in america. WE ARE A TWO PARTY POLITICAL SYSTEM which DOES NOT WORK. Sorry.

I know man. That's what I love about you. :bigblunt: I quite often forget on here that sometimes I have to do a better job explaining what I mean. To me, bipartisan is much easier than retyping over and over again two-party system.

Thanks dude!!!

There almost always has been and there most likely will be only two parties in the future. Our political system is not conducive to more than two parties. It has little do do with what the voters think and much more to do with the obstacles in the way of new third parties.

We should pass a law banning any form of political parties by referendum. Much more progress would be made in this country if each politician were considered for their own personal nature and their stance on the ideas, not some group that they are assigned to.

Bipartisan politics are inevitable because of Duverger's law.

After 5 years of GOP control of government, if anyone still believes that the republicans have the answer to ANYFUCKINGTHING, that the republicans can get anything right, ever, in this lifetime, they are kidding themselves. They will fuck it up even worse than your worst imaginings, because all they have to offer is graft, corruption, bad intentions, hypocrisy, terminal indifference, and malignant incompetence.

Vote Democratic and fuck the GOP.

The democrats blow. Being the lesser of two evils is just basically the same as being Darth Vadar's First Admiral.

I would love more parties. Who doesn't like more parties? You'd think Americans would have more parties than any other country, because we know how to have a good time, and yet we only have two. What gives?

They fooled another... there is no lesser of two evils... both parties are equal in their corruption. The only difference is who happens to be in the spotlight today.

Please, voting Democratic is the same exact thing. Small details change, like the fact that there will be more gun control and more special interest groups, like gay Jewish advocacy groups or some shit, that catch their ear. Next thing you'll know, they will be censoring everything and pick up where this administration has left off and continue the path of taking away your freedoms.

That is bullshit. The economy was fine during the dem control of the 90s.

Follow the thread, pumpkin. Every time? Since Reagan, tax cutting has shown to be enormously effective in stimulating the economy. Since before that, tax raising has shown to be enormously effective in fucking the economy. Now, which party espouses raising taxes?

At any rate my response was to some tyro who said Republicans fuck everything up. I put forth the economy as an example of something that puts the lie to his statement.
