Balance of Power, Propaganda Bullshit, Reform!

So if you were raise like I was, then you probraly thought our government was nice for a long ass time because, you believed in the concept of "Balane of Power", which I just realized today is a fraud. I do belive the concept is a good one, and I suggest a feasible way to make the "Balance of Power" balanced. Well, we have 3 branches of government, that should overlook each other's power. Except we only vote politicians in for one branch. What the Fuck! So I suggest we elect our own judges, our own cia directors, and so on.. I'm I first one to figure this out? A 3 branched government with checks on each other, all competing for voters. Our government might actually keep a great democratic appeal, and even be acclaimed for reform. Unless you think is a bad idea, , if so ?????????????

****Well, we have 3 branches of government, that should overlook each other's power. Except we only vote politicians in for one branch. What the Fuck! **** you're wrong again.....we have 3 branches legislative , exectutive, and judicial...we vote for those in the exectutive and legislative branches. I do believe the judicial should be a voters choice but is not. ****So I suggest we elect our own judges, our own cia directors, and so on.. **** wow i actually agree with you...that scares me ****I'm I first one to figure this out? **** you're 19 right? You're probably one of the last ones to figure this out

Well I am calling the Green party one of these days, to try to get donations for the charity I work for. So, I will inquire about this being added to their platform, You can do the same for your favortie political party, and we can find a political party that will do this. How's that sound! Who do we vote for in Executive again? (president??) Hey if this is so simple, then why does'nt any political party use it as their platform.

A flat tax, that is clicking someplace back in my head, but i cannot immediately recall. What is that again? Also, so you are saying that this platform is just common sense, all politicians are working for it secrelty, but it is just so common senselike, that it does'nt need to be stated and put in a platform, If so I understand the repubilan party completely now.

A flat tax means taxing everyone the same amount. That means that a guy who makes 10K a year pays the same tax as a guy who makes 100K a year. I'm pretty sure, anyway. Correct me if I'm wrong. I think it's a stupid idea. The more money you personally make the more resources you consume, directly or indirectly. People who make more money SHOULD pay more taxes. (No, I'm not a communist) Flat taxes are a dream for big business because that would allow them to profit without having to pay anything.

What you have is just an illusion of democracy. Elections are pointless. You have to choose between two morons and two parties that have same ideas. Winner is the one who looks nice and has more money. Politicians represent those who donated for their campains and not the voters. So you want judges to be elected in the same system? www.anarchy.org

ok now here's the counterpoint (FOR a flat tax)... not saying i support it, but just to play devil's advocate here... A flat tax is a set tax that every citizen pays. Why should rich people who have worked hard and had the capitalist economy work for them have to pay enormously more than another person who has been sitting around on his ass everyday. Why should the person who hasn't been doing anything get more than he puts in? And therein lies the trouble. An Analogy: It would be comporable to concert ticketing in a way: The fans that don't really know anything about the band, who are just coming to the concert because someone dragged them there, and might not even care at all about the band.................. They get front row tickets, no questions asked. How about the fans of the band who's playing? These fans have listened to every song the band has put out, watched every music video, and worked very hard at following this band maybe even camped out days before.................. well since they have followed the band so closely, they don't have to sit up close... so they get the crappy lawn seats. -the capital being a fan's devotion to the band did i mess anything up?... I am in bad shape this morning... so it could happen.

Just a Punk writes: A flat tax means taxing everyone the same amount. That means that a guy who makes 10K a year pays the same tax as a guy who makes 100K a year. I'm pretty sure, anyway. Correct me if I'm wrong. Not quite. A flat tax in the context of income tax means EVERYONE with an annual income (individuals AND corporations), regardless of the source of that income, pays the same PERCENTAGE of tax on that income. No deductions, no tax shelters, no rebates. Someone making 100 K per year would therefore pay ten times as much income tax as someone making 10 K per year, rather than thirty or forty times as much, as is the case today. The more money you personally make the more resources you consume, directly or indirectly. Not always correct. Does Stephen King (for example) consume more resources than a welfare mother with eight kids? Fifteen years ago I was making just under 100 K per year. I drove a pre-owned Honda Civic (but I took the bus to work because parking downtown was virtually impossible), rented a modest one bedroom apartment, owned four off-the-rack suits, a Casio watch and one pair of dress shoes. I had a nineteen inch color TV and a VCR and a Sears cheapo stereo. Oh, for a while I had two ten gallon aquariums of tropical fish, and a cat. No computer. No video game box. I ate at restaurants MAYBE twice a month. I was consuming the same amount of resources I did the first year out of school when I worked for minimum wage... actually less, since the first few years I was still accumulating furniture and suits and ties and shirts and pots and pans and cutlery and all. People who make more money SHOULD pay more taxes. If you mean they should pay a higher percentage, I must ask, "Why?" Flat taxes are a dream for big business because that would allow them to profit without having to pay anything. Actually, a flat tax as I described above would be more than many corporations currently pay, depending on exactly what percentage everyone would have to pay in order to keep the country afloat. pinky

Well, if you look at china, where the average salary of a citizen is 100 dollars a year. Then anyone in the u.s. with over 10,000 is officially rich. I think that is also a good assumption becasue, with ten thousand dollars you can invest in a business, stocks, house, car, etc. But to get to 10,000 is quite a feat. The highest amount of money I have ever had was 4000 dollars. Very good for someone my age. ( not to mention, that people give me money all the time!) so it's not that I earned this money straight up. Also, I will be straight up, if you have over 1000 dollars in the bank, you are also rich, and have alot of money to give away. The most I ever keep in the bank is 300 dollars, that's enough food for me to live on for a year, so I guess I have some issues with "hoarding".

You never answered the question. Personally i can give two shits about China. Are you saying that 10K a year is rich? Quit your comparisons they are apples and oranges. Just answer the question and stop the psycho babble.

Does the term 'cost of living' mean anything to you? $1,000.00 wouldn't even pay my rent for half a month. But then nobody gives me money either.

I said anybody with a savings, or net worth of 10,000 is rich. china is used as a comparison, because it is the largest country in the world. 10,000, could be enough to retire in China, and other poorer places.

You have an uncanny ability to not make any sense. I said i don't care about China and the comparisons are different because cost of living is drastically different. Answer the question What do you consider rich in the United States.
