Turtle Owners: Is this a good deal?
    #6806923 -

Bowser needs a home makeover. I found someone on Craigslist who is going to sell me these items for 70$.
Aquarium
Filter
Fake plants
Light w/ two different bulbs
What food is left over
heater for the water
rocks
and another turtle

I really have no idea how much this would cost together. Is this worth 70$?

i have no idea if it's worth it, but it's craigslist.. talk them down. always talk them down another 10 bucks or so, just for the sake of bartering.

also.. what kind of aquarium is it? you can get a plain 10 gallon from walmart for 10 bucks flat.

I checked and its a 10 gallon tank. Is that big enough for two 4-5 inch turtles? Some other lady is selling a 55 gallon aq. w/ lights for 75$.

55 is HUGE. just so you know. it'll be like 4 feet long. so consider where the hell you'd put it before buying it.

honestly, i don't know shit about turtle tanks or anything. the only reason i know about the $10 ten gallon at walmart is because it was my first myco fruiting chamber.

...Like tiny_rabid_birds said, a 10 gal is good for growing mushrooms. A 55 gal would be good for growing turtles.  My 55 gal is 48"L x 12"W x 22" high. You don't want to fill it too deep, like you would if you're keeping fish. Are you buying another :turtle: ??  If so, let OTD name that one :hehehe: ...

A bigger tank is inevitable...I AM going to buy a bigger one in the future.  But for now, a 10 gallon will have to be sufficient enough for two 4-inch turtles.

The second turtle will come with all that filtration/aquarium stuff. I'm pretty sure it already has a name but I'll probably rename it.  Maybe Slowpoke, Speedbump or some name in honor of my love for chemistry.

Thats a decent deal, if you go all cheap at the store the filter tank plants and all that would probably run you about 50, the food and another turtle I dont know about. I would just offer 50. But 10 gallons will be big enough for a while turtles dont grow that fast.

Do you happen to know how much a heater for the water cost?

[EDIT] well..nevermind....cuz it would depend on the model, type, etc. I'm pretty sure like every other product on the market, there's cheap then there's not cheap.

I'm gonna go ahead and buy the stuff today...

What size is the tank? 2 adult red eared sliders would need a 55+ gallon tank. They get huge.

So, what size tank, and what kind of filters?

... I worked in the "pet industry" for about 8 years so I should be able to answer your questions if you have any more.
