The origin of 420

420 to me sounds like a kid sort of term. I mean 15 years ago if you said that no one basically would know what you meant.
Today just about everyone knows what you're talkin about.

So where did the term originate. Some people say its a police code for smokin the herbs. Others will tell you that it started from a group of California high schooler kids for their time to go smoke up.

Here is my take. I was reading an article about pot and medical pot in an old Omni magazine (remember that mag?). Anyway it was mentioning the active chemical compounds in pot and guess how many there are. Yep; 420.

So who really knows where the term 420 came from. I just think it makes me feel old because we always called it by the old school names back in the day.What do you think about the term and any possible meaning you have attributed to it

if so i know where 420 came from

It is widely accepted that in the early 1970s, a group of teenagers at San Rafael High School in San Rafael, California used to meet every day after school at 4:20 p.m. to smoke marijuana at the Louis Pasteur statue.[2] [3] Many cannabis users continue to observe 4:20 as a time to smoke communally. By extension April 20 ("4/20" in U.S. dating shorthand) has evolved into a counterculture holiday, where people gather to celebrate and consume cannabis.

possible but that was before pot was associated with the number.

So anyway I still think 420 seems to me like some kids saying. Maybe It's just my age. And I think it is like religion or some scientific theory, we believe in what we subscribe to.

Anyway here is the excerpt from that Omni Magazine article that is my cornerstone in my belief.
