The Multifaceted Dimension

Earlier i was explaining what the difference was between rebirth and reincarnation. Now in the Tibetan tradition a person is only called a 'reincarnate' when he has the capacity to direct his/her own rebirth. Its a little like when Castaneda books explain about the descriptions and stopping the world. Our descriptions being synonymous with our conditioning, for example and the stopping the world being synonymous with stopping the wheel of samsara. Our colective conditioning we pass on to our children, and slowly they begin to be conditioned and shaped by there parents and relatives involvement. So this becomes our description, the things that all people can agree on, cans of coke, newspaper's, no one is going to reject your 'description', becuase we all share that collective vision. This is like one facet of a multifaceted dimension. One description if you will.

So throughout history religion took on the mythical to help us to  change our description of reality into a more spiritual dimension, through vision quests, rites of some kind, visualizations, magic mushrooms, whatever. The characteristics, the outer forms are what the methods are that are used is interesting to note, with what descriptions are given for that alternate reality, the kingdom of paradise that lies within, or whatever. But it is not the actual description that is of significance, what is of significance is when, halfway through the process of changing descriptions, there is this feeling, this open, spacious feeling. If we investigate we will see that this feeling arose due to our noticing that neither description is independent and self-existing, as they both arose dependently upon causes and conditions. What did not arise dependently was this spaciousness, groundless state, that was the real point in the journey.

Some people go on bliss trips like the Krishna, believing very strongly in the Bagavagita, and using that description for constructing there reality of God and Soul, etc. This is why having a proper source of refuge is the most important thing for a Buddhist practitioners. We know through the teachings, how they work, and we can have confidence in them, knowing that the Buddhas methods are used to have insight into the groundless, deathless state, instead of trying to replace one description with another, we seek to see all of the essence of the infinite facets of this multidimensional unreality.

This basically means that our groundlessness has the potential for manifesting as many descriptions as we need, to help beings come to a pure refuge. There is a myth for example, that when Ganesh was away, doing some services, some people were making prayers, so Avalokaetshavara manifested as Ganesh in that moment, so that the prayers would not be wasted. Ganesh and well as Shiva are considered to be Gaurdians of the teaching, within the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. So its not as if we are even rejecting the descriptions saying that they are useless. But we are saying that the most important thing, is that in this process you realize the groundlessness of those descriptions, and integrate with that realization.

Even string theory now backs up the idea of multidimensional reality, with curled up dimensions that are not accessible to those limited by the first three dimensions, obviously and the fourth, which is time. The Buddhas teachings teach us how to go beyond time, beyond ignorance that causes duality, and not just replace descriptions, but to go beyond all descriptions.B)

Most of all, we must examine the nature of our search, whilst we are applying any method. Investigate. :japsmile:

Its to do with the principles of sciences saying that this world is multidimensional, and that is what all spiritual/mystical traditions have been saying for centuries. Is this such a coincidence? Mantra for example, to manipulate the anti-material principles, are nothing new to India, or unknown of in Tibet centuries ago. There are even references to atomic weapons in some Vedic scripture, that was written long before Einstein was ever born. :tokeeporder:

Sounds like the standard idea of reincarnation to me. (I was Cleopatra in my last life.:p) I see no evidence of this anywhere I look. It still looks like a way to deal with death anxiety to me. I have a Buddhist friend that is one knowledgeable dude. He seems to know (lots) about any religion or philosophy you can name. He's also a immortalist. He believes he will not have to leave his body in this incarnation. He's a very shy man and seems strangely insecure to me (but still very sweet and kind). My opinion is that he wants to have lots of time to get over his inhibitions and start living balls out. He needs a few more years.:grin: Anyway death anxiety or the egos fear of non-existence is at the root of all this IMO.

The funny thing is that death anxiety is the reason that we should live to the max, but most people use it to prevent themselves from living.
