Reform in Intelligence Community
    #674014 -

I think rather then implementing a whole new agency (Homeland Security Agency) that we reform our current security agencies (Cia, Fbi), President Bush is using this new agency specifically for press, and as an excuse of our old agencies. The fact is that every security agency operates on a different Computer system, for our current agencies to reform the government has said it could take years for them to reform. So why are we wasting our money on a completely new agency, to decrease the amount of reform availabe on the old one? Ask Bush, and his press thinktank policy.

We are reforming. We are integrating the FBI, CIA, and INS. What do you think we are going to hire all new people and fire everyone else? Throw all the intelligence gathererd over the past 50+years and throw it in some warehouse so that we can start from scratch?

Also I have not heard anything of a National Homeland agency. I have only heard of the new cabinet position to which the FBI, INS, and CIA would all report.

the problem is that we are investing in a new security agency, the New Homeland Security agency, I'm surprised you hav'ent heard of it. I just think that for us to integrate the old agencies is the best awnser, however we are just creating a whole new agency even before the old agencies are integrated. This just sounds like it will delay the so called integration that the old intelligence agencies need.

Again this is the first I've heard of it. I know we have created a new cabinet department, but have heard nothing about an agency.

You'll understand if I don't take your word for it.

Actually, the new organization should reduce costs by eliminating duplication. Also, Tom Ridge or whoever fills the cabinet post will also have to answer to congress, which is not the case as it stands now.
