Stress
    #6729066 -

Stress is a condition that seems to be experienced by all sorts of life. Birds can suffer stress, for example.

How many here experience stress? One thing that amazes me is that I can often not even be aware that I'm stressed. It is often more of an underlying, subconscious effect that pushes and pulls on conscious thought, obstructing my direct perception of reality and degrading my state of being.

I'm having more experiences in which I consciously realize that I am stressing out, and am working on relieving the initial causes of the stress. Stress really drains our energy and awareness and does us absolutely no benefit. Its like having the vehicle in park and stepping directly down on the gas pedal.

Its senseless. Perhaps the causes of stress are real concerns that we need to address. Stress is not effective in bringing one to resolve the concern. In fact, it works agansit you by making you suffer and to be less perceptive of one's direct experience of interaction with reality.

I think a huge amount of stress is the result of social conditioning. The best antidote I've found though is mindfulness.

I suffer from tons of unnecessary yet justifiable stress.  When I recognize it I try to think happy thoughts but I've already accepted that I'll prolly be bald by 25.

Like most things in life, stress in moderation isn't all bad.

Without stress, we become weak. It's because of the stress of gravity that our bones are strong, for example. Astronauts who are in space for extended periods of time lose bone mass.

The same goes for psychological stress. The trick is knowing how to manage it. People often stress out over things out of their control. That's counterproductive. It accomplished nothing.

There's a saying: grant me the strength to change the things I can and the wisdom to accept the things I can't.

So, is something stressing you out? Auto insurance maybe?

Yep, without stress there is no evolution.

Unrelieved stress is a killer. It does in the adrenals and kidneys. Next comes death.

The effective way to manage psychological stress when it arises is to become aware of it and to resolve the initial cause of stress - to use it to transcend it.

Mental stress may be a catalyst for growth, yet is unnecessary if one comes to realize that they are capable of consciously choosing responses to situations or events that one would cause oneself stress over. Stress is only an impediment to our ability to act. One can effectively make decisions as to how one will act without an obstructive experience of strain. Someone who is stressed is more seperated from reality as it can be directly experienced. Someone who is stressed at work, for example, will likely not be as productive in their work. One can be centered in an open, perceptive state of being and, being more aware of the nature of reality as it directly occurs, be more capable of interacting with reality in a manner that will serve one's preferences, as one is more aware of what one is interacting with. :smirk:

Stressing out about things that are within one's realm of influence is counterproductive as well. If one can influence a situation for one's better, then why would one stress out about it?

It doesn't say anything about degrading one's present experience of life by stressing about the things that one can change, as you were proposing earlier.

I feel stress a lot, I think, but it is not due to anything as obtuse as auto insurance. It stems from more subconscious, security level of consciousness-type stuff. It isn't an entirely conscious experience most of the time. Its more in one's inner sense of being, which is something that I am becoming more aware of and centering myself within more consciously.

You feel stress because you have to defend the fact that you work at Wal-Mart. It must be unrelenting.

I have dark circles under my eyes due to kidney depletion. I need to exercise more, drink more fluids, etc.

Diet too. Not to much protein for you then. Lots of green raw veggies. Take the Chinese formula SIX FLAVORS. It will rebuild your kidney Chi.

I don't defend anything, as there is no reason to. I enjoy my work and feel that the stores truly serve the community.

Did you read any of the rest of my post? I elaborately explained how I have started to become aware of underlying tension and stress, and how I am beginning to resolve the sources of it. Its a path of awareness. I'm perfectly chill.

Garlic mashed malanga (a sorta Cuban potato), brown rice, steamed asparagus, and stir fried tofu with peas, julian carrots, onions, garlic, and shallots... all topped with fresh cilantro.

You and your other half are a bad influence on me.
