Patching.
    #670598 - 06/09/02 07:23 PM (21 years, 9 months ago)

I have read in the FAQ that people patched their casing.

1st. question: can I re-use the casing prepared 4 days ago for casing (it was kept in the bag it was pressure-cooked in).

2nd. question: is this patching thing so useful as to practice it often? Do you guys patch often?

3rd. question: Is this time to patch the mycelium on the right side?

Concerning the misting:

Q1: with tap, mineral or sterilized water?

Q2: should I mist on the mycelium?

Sorry for the newbie questions, but that is what seems the most puzzling for me, as it is my very first casing.

LilMerlin.

p.s. your cat shouldn't induldge in shrooms. It gives him/her a strange... aspect.

Potable water.

Q2: Yes. You want to knock it down a bit, so it doesn?t start spreading on the casing surface.

>anno...when would you patch then?

If the mycelium was really comming through only one spot. If you look at that casing, the mycelium is already beginning to spread through the casing all over it, not only at the patch at the right.
Patching is a possible cure for a problem, not something that should be of need on a regular basis.

Btw, now it?s time to put the casing in the terrarium, if you haven?t yet.

Thank you for the note: I just put them in the terrarium. I'll post pictures of the growing progression at least at the crop stage.

Thanks,
LilMerlin.
