Hey,

does anyone know what this is? there is a faint yellowish trail through the mycelium, up to the growth...

I dunno. I'd break it off though. If it blues well, you could boil it into tea.

Just some vegetative growth. It's not a contamination, just hyphal knots which are likely every bit as active as the fruits themselves.

Those aren't hyphal knots.

Can you describe the difference between hyphal knotting and what is going in in that photo?

Hyphal knots form on rhizomorphs and are less than 1mm in diameter. Those are blobs of 'whatever'. Sometimes mycelium just mutates.

Ooooh, so the little ball looking things, that pins often form from are distinct from this massive vegetative overgrowth? I'm surprised there is not a name for the growth, seeing as it is fairly common.
I like it.

there probley is a name for this condition.

hyphal knots are the little tiny white 'hair'-looking things, kindof fuzzy looking....right before pins. if you look closely, you can see tiny little balls forming in them that become pins.

WOooooah- that does not look good!

I'm not sure what is going on there, but it does not look like mushroom metabolites. Instead, there seems to be borders of distinct growth, and discolouration to boot!

Harvest that one nice fruit and chuck that thing outdoors. If you have a shady spot, bury it there and it might fruit again this summer.
