I think a function where you could reply-to multiples posts at once would be really cool. Right now you see a lot of people responding to multiple posts at once, but only technically replying to one poster (then only one gets the message notice, and the rest may never know). Or you have someone post multiple replies in succession to a number of others, cluttering up the forum and supporting post-whoreism.

I know it would probably be a bit of a nightmare to implement with the databases but maybe you could do some fancy concatenation tricks or something. What think ye, oh mighty Shroomery collective?

Why don't you just specify in the very first line of the post all the users you're replying to?

Examples:

RE: Victor80 and Cyberdude
RE: This is for the three of ya's.

But if somebody loses track of a thread for whatever reason they never see your message. With a multiple reply-to feature people would get email notifications if they have that feature enabled.

I'm no admin, but, I think due to the threaded nature of things on this board, the structure actually relies on each post being a response to one single other post.

OMR is correct. This has been suggested before, but the nature of a thread and its structure is the reason why one can only select one post to reply to.

I think that anyone who is concerned about others reading their posts as though they were only being addressed to one person instead of multiple individuals, or the entire audience in general will have no problem mentioning who one is speaking to in their post. If I've read an entire thread and wish to respond to multiple points throughout, the general topic outlined by everyone's posts, or whatever, I simply reply to the first post.
