I play acoustic, because I don't have a working amp.

Each one has its uses, but if I have to choose one I'll always go with a solid body (My custom Strat ).

I love acoustics tho!!

I prefer to play with my solid body guitar ( 70's strat )
But sometimes I feel morel like taking my classical guitar... different vibe

Interesting, I was expecting much more semi-hollowbody votes.

Because acoustics only sound really good as long as the strings are fresh,
and my fingers aren't calloused up like they used to be - so it is a pain....

Solid bodies + distortion, or a clean chorus just does it for me....
Specifically, an Ibanez S-Series Prestige guitar, and a Peavey 2x12 Stereo Chorus amp....

If the distortion is right, and the mood is right, an electric guitar plays like butter....
If the clean chorus is bouncing around in the stereo field of the room, you can hear layered melodies in your head without trying....

To be more specific....

acoustic because it doesn't make my ears ring. I can't play my electric through my Blue Voodoo without feeling the music go through my body.

I had a hard time not choosing acoustic, but I picked solid body electric simply because of all the crazy shit you can do with one, given the right equipment.

Acoustics are great in their own way.

I don't have much experience with semi-hollows.  But I think I would like an ES335 or  Trey Anastasio's guitar :drooling:, though I think it's full hollow.

I prefer a semi-hollow body over a solid body. I can do just as much, if not more with it.
