The genius of Conservatives
    #6643835 -

Political posturing. This is where they truly accel, and not just the pundits, but the entire Right Wing, from president to Nascar fan can stay on message, and by keeping up with what the rhetoric of the day that they are supposed to thoughtlessly spout, they easily out maneuver the divided liberals.

Example: Lets say another 9/11 happens..... The republicans will be abuzz with glee that they can blame this on the liberals who have limited our war effort.....
but until (or if it doesnt ever happen) it happens the rhetoric is to say "see! we are deterring terrorism, because it hasnt happened on american soil since!".

great debate posturing. Just like in chess, the move you just made has no effect unless it was part of a plan to subdue your opponent in much later moves... The republicans are always on the offensive.

As if 9-11 has never been exploited by liberals

Liberals actually invented the whole morality-posturing thing. Medicare, Social Security anyone?

Two of the flat-out worst ideas our country has ever had (not health care or savings plans, mind you, but the actual realities of Medicare and Social Security), and yet they're untouchable because of the rhetoric the Liberals have sold the country on.

who said anything about exploitation?

oh sorry.... I forgot that was a programmed response.

no matter what I type next, you are going to respond "Al Gore is an idiot, and global warming is a hoax".

I am discussing political posturing. Which I am giving a thumbs up to conservative for.

Hey look over there! is that a dead anna nicole smith?

All partisan hackery, whether from a liberal or a conservative, is two hens puffing their chests up. This thread is just an example from a liberal point of view and injects nothing new other than the same stove top drama and kettle calling between partisans. The allegations you make of posturing can just as easily be attributed to liberals (as Economist pointed out).

1) "9/11" was organized by the American govt for a bunch of reasons we could talk about later

2) The Conservatives are a bunch of followers who say what people want to hear right then and there, but are NOT the right decisions and the population realizes this afterwards, making the conservatives completely useless.

3) there is no such thing as THE best type of

God I hear that.

Human life is very dynamic and the government's attempt in such a manner to shift responsibility away from the individual onto itself, it really creates these bureaucracies that cannot succeed. We should spend more resources in facilitating the individuals following through with an effective savings plan instead of using something like Social Security. I don't know too much about Medicare but I think that health care should simply be universal, covered through all taxes. Doctors should be federal employees. You simply walk in and they have their computer system like the department of transportation will have and they collect no money from you there.

I really haven't thought about that much before this moment. :stoned:  I'd suggest that it be critiqued, but it really is just an irrelevant side-tangent; didn't mean to derail any threads.

i have been reading a lot as of late, and i think the conservatives are great at what they do. they have mastered orwellian double speak and have fooled the country (or 51% of it0 into thinking the entire country thinks like GWB - and the the liberal media is posioning the water.
Im not going to get all tin foil hat here - but I get antsy when ppl say SS is bad - it has been great for its entire life cycle, until in the 80's the conservatives got tired of paying for your grandmama's cat food. now they want to "fix" the problem.
they way they fixed the schools.
fixed the water.
fixed Iraq.
fixed the economy.
anyone who isnt for socialised medicare is not, nor has ever been poor/couldnt affor to pay their medical bills.
I wish that i could get 9 pay raises in 5 years.

I recently saw Jesus Camp - and that galvanized the strength of the conservative party - brainwash the youth, have an on-message adult.
anyone who hasnt seen jesus camp should - it will make you understand what youre dealing with. this goes beyond "my party, your party." we ar talking about the country moving towards Authorianism - dissolution of basic constutional rights and a completely wacked pack of Ideologs who are quickly estabishing an Oligarchy.

That would make sense, if I was a liberal.

i dont understand what your dissent is here, unless it is knee-jerk reaction to disagree with anyone who doesn't tow the republican agenda.

What double speak, or political posturing has the "vast network of liberal conspirators" done in recent times? Maybe we could give examples somewhere in the later half of the 20th century up to now instead of citing the New Deal as proof of liberal political posturing.

Am i wrong about the example above? have the republicans not put themselves into a win-win situation? By staying on the unwavering offensive (like very minimal damage control before trying to barrel forward with another political gripe or distraction) they allow themselves a few days more to place themselves in certain stances and positions.
The only thing that really works against the republican party is one-of-a-kind bonehead slip-ups like trying to fuck paiges, being vehemently anti-drug and getting caught with a pill addiction, identifying CIA agents...... that kind of shit.

I know many neo-cons like to believe that their agenda is a righteous one, divined from the prophet o'reilly, and isnt merely political bullshit (not that it all isnt political bullshit) that comes down to the same defensive reaction as kids defending why pepsi is better than Coke.

Conservatives are neither exclusive to the Republican Party. The vast majority of conservatives here at PA&L are libertarians or neo-libertarians. So what exactly are you getting at here? That anyone who disagrees with the radical left are somehow monolithic alongside the Republican Party and the Bush Administration? The whole basis of your thread is one gigantic assumption from what I can see. Coke or Pepsi, Pepsi or Coke. It's all the same, so why are you attacking one drink?

Yeah, and liberals would blame the conservatives for not protecting the country and creating more terrorists in Iraq.

Then your response would probably be, "well they are right, aren't they?"

That's because the topic of this thread is just ideological in nature. Liberals and conservatives use the same political strategies, but everything "they" do is bad and everything "we" do is ok because we are right and they are wrong.

you just cant stay on topic.

I have mentioned conservative once so far, which was a few posts back, and most likely not the one you were responding to.

it amazes me that you have yet to come up with anything other than ad hominems or any actual debating of the subject I have presented. A simple, "I disagree" would have sufficed.

A knowledge of your post history in this forum is why i direct comments like towing the party line towards you.

i agree my example is conjecture, but it isnt ideological fluff. Can you honestly say that exactly what I stated in my example wouldnt be plastered all over Fox news?

All i am simply saying in this thread is that the republican party has more tactical foresight, especially compared to the Democratic party.

the majority of republicans are smarter than the majority of democrats. atleast test wise.

Both sides are representing ideas of how the government should be run to best suit themselves. Poor, stupid democrats want the government and rich people to "even out life", while the arrogant, upper-class republicans want to keep their money and subjugate the lower-crust of society.
The republicans do that better because they are united by a moral and financial agenda, while most liberals are looking out for #1 which has a range of "victimizations" to put more political emphasis on, and in the absence of a true culprit of their personal opressors, they spend most of their time on personal vendettas and character assasination.

The Republicans do better in my opinion, because the majority of people are genetically more inclined towards conservatism. That is just conjecture of course, not even reaching the level of scientific hypothesis-- I base it more or less, on a perhaps reckless supposition of data from behavioral genetics and nearly a century of political polling. Seeing as, its already been established in behavioral genetics that a fair amount of political attitude is indeed inherited, I don't see it as too unreasonable to suggest.

Of course other factors do play a role in determining political beliefs as well, factors like geography, age, and birth order. The two primary groups that vote are the educated and the elderly, and the US is lacking in education compared to the other developed nations. Also, rural populations tend to be more conservative then urban populations, and the US also has a relatively large rural populace compared to the other first world nations.
