fat branches bad for cloning?
    #6629564 -

Are fat MJ branches not good for cloning? My strain is making fat fat meaty branches and I can only get a good cut by slicing with a razor.

Are thick fat branches bad for cloning?

I have taken 1 clone in the past to sex out my mom and it rooted and is growing so I think I kinda almost know how to do it lol.

It has not sexed yet but since2 of my 4 plants are looking male that leaves good odds of this one being a female and since it should sex in a few days I thought I would get a jump start on cloneing especily if the ones that I thought were gonna be female turn male.

The person who gave me these blue berry seeds said they were femenised but I dunno if he was rite about that, but I do know that they are the blue berry strain they had a package that said blue berry.

Come on plant that I selected as the most sexy please dont make me a fag. Be a girl =).

I don't have much leaf material on them so I hope I did good.

Sounds good I always pick the fattest branches from the fattest moms makes for fatter bases of the new plant which is a good thing.

Sterile razor cut at an angle on the stem like / bout all there is to making the cut.Get it in some root hormone(if thats even yer bag some don't use it)then off to dirt or water depending on yer choices once again maybe even an aero cloner.Easy as so I am sure you will do fine when it come to taking more.

well, there actually is a good way for seed growers who are unsure about sex.

say u got 5 plants, just take a cutting or two of each plant and leave the mother in veg.

as soon as the clones are rooted, flower them - you shall be able to tellwhich originating
plant is fem then.

easy as that, and the time it took the clones to root / flower the mother has already
recovered from the cutting and sprouted two new shoots at the clone site.

just discard the males then and veg the fems to proper size - easy as that.

an even faster way would be to just cover a branch tip with a non see thru bag for 12 hours a day.

Hey sounds like you have done this be for probably?

I have already done this, I took a cutting and rooted it and put it in bud approximately 7 days ago. No sign of sex but it has grown 2 leaf sets.

About how long until I can stop wondering if all of my plants are male or not. If they all go male I will kill gnomes.

I have not done it.

I would not want flowering and vegetative hormones running though the same plant.

I'm not saying it wont work, im just saying i wouldn't recommend it.

well from what I hear it works great from people that have done it and that pull 3lb off an indoor plant.
took him 6000 w of lighting for that one plant.
besides weed is very resilient
you can take them out of bud and put back into veg growth

As far as 'fat branches for cloning', As long as they are not 'woody' you can clone them. in veg the stems are different than they are late in flower.

Im probably gonna do some 'air layering' here soon, and im going to probably test it using some old woody growth. but this thread is not about air layering (cloning while still attached to the plant).

i not saying it will not work, im saying i would never recommend forcing a plant to produce flowering hormones, in the same plant i was trying to veg. :getstoned:

just give it some time, you should see sexable signs soon.

the motherplant should meanwhile recover and sprout new branches.
