fat tax
    #6570877 -

I was thinking today, they're about to raise the tax on ciggerettes up too 1.25$ But I couldn't help but think why they dont tax fatty foods. I cant begin too imagine how much money is spent annually on prevention and healthcare of obese people. Heart disease kills just as many if not more people then ciggerttes. So why not come up with some way too tax fat people.

We need to start taxing people with low IQ's first.

I agree fatty foods should have taxes placed on them simply to offset the cost of obesity. What would be great is if allot of that tax went into encouraging people to eat right and exercise as well.

Well, I didn't say that... And you can't really ban foods.

But people should be encouraged to try and eat better and exercise. And let people eating that garbage pay for the hospital costs, its not my responsibility.

They banned possession of hundreds of species of native mushrooms and possession of several plants, why can't they ban foods?

Well they could, but I dont think that would be right.

I agree that getting rid of hydrogenated oil is a good move, as its just a way for cheap corporations to save money, and distribute a very unhealthy product. Aspartame is garbage as well.

But in general I dont believe in banning foods. And neither of those I mentioned are foods.

At the very least, health insurance companies should charge more for people at risk.

Less smokers, higher tax.

Besides, the tax revenue generated from fast food corporations and snack companies would make any type of fat tax look like chump change.

I think it's dumb. Why should I have to pay more money for fatty foods I choose to eat if I can stay healthy.

They should quit taxing every single thing on the face of the earth. I'd say make anyone who eats themselves to 500 pounds to pay for their own health bills.

They do! maybe not the way you mean but do this:
go to a McDonald's order food look at receipt

Eat in Tax!!! wtf is this... OK so I have to pay to use their tables kinda understandable I'll take out.

Take Out Tax!!! WTF is this even legal.

I've noticed this and I'm pretty sure most fast food places do this. Everyone I've asked had no idea about these taxes.
