Can you be more specific?

Perhaps if you presented your own position on metaphysics and epistemology then others would state theirs.

Just trying to help you get this thread started

I believe in making up whatever I like because I say so. All life is based on experiance so my non-sequiturs about phalosophy don't have to make sense. psychadelics help you see thru the BS that the govt programs you with like on 9/11 so thats why I take them and I know the real truth of reality. everything is like a dream only just more real.

I believe that the universe and all life, sentient and otherwise, have been formed and controlled by chaos in its purest form. Evolution.

Chemicals and compounds accidentally jostling about existence have just so happened to collide into forms on this planet, yourself and myself are merely two bipedal hominids drifting on a tiny blue marble in a universe that is constantly bustling with activity.

Order is merely a tamer form of this universal chaos.

I already prooven myself right by my phalosophy because I already said that I believe in making up whatever I like because I said so. Therefore I must be wrighte.

You must be either a scientologist or a creationist with that logic.

the material universe exists, and we exist as conscious entities that arise from very specific conditions in the material universe. we are capable of perceiving and knowing this universe through our senses.

Your logic is purely circular. Let me illustrate why this does not work: I believe that there is a giraffe with 8 legs the size of New York floating in space. If you attempt to find the giraffe it will instantly disappear and transport light years away from you. The problem with this is that you can't prove me wrong; it's true because I say it is true. This simply does not work. Just because I say something doesn't make it true. There must be some sort of validity check. It has once been said before that something claimed without evidence can be discarded without evidence. Your logic is a perfect example of this. If that kind of logic is feasible, then how can any of us be wrong?

There is no rational way to arrive at anything that can be considered universally true. All that we have are our individual experiences. Some beliefs may seem more likely based on our experiences, but there is no control to measure them against. There seems to be no way to "know" anything with 100% certainty, but some things seem much more probable given the data we can collect personally or collectively as a species. I can have confidence that when I touch a flame it will burn me, but there is uncertainty inherent in all things. The mind doesn't like uncertainty, but thankfully the mind isn't all that we have. We can act without thinking, believe without questioning and disregard doubt because it is always there and serves little purpose in our day to day lives but to stifle us from action.

Any belief is as valid as any other, but some are more probable than others. I set a threshold for belief that is completely arbitrary and use what works for me -- what I have come to believe as probable based on my personal experiences. Everyone can set their own threshold seeing as it is arbitrary. Whatever works for you so long as it doesn't interfere with my freedom to believe whatever I want.

LMAO. This is great. I'm sorry, I know it's not right to laugh at people, but really, proof-read your post before sending it.

I think you are equating rationality with deduction. Also you seem to be saying that there are no general epistemic norms, how do you know that exactly?

If you are using the internet instead of magically trying to project your thoughts to us you are already admitting to the existence of an objective reality.

As Richard Dawkins once stated: “Show me a cultural relativist at 30,000 feet and I’ll show you a hypocrite … If you’re flying to an international conference of anthropologists or literary critics the reason you will probably get there … is that a lot of western scientifically trained engineers have got their sums right.”

I don't know with complete certainty that there are no epistemic absolutes, but there is no way you can absolutely prove to me that they exist.

How do you know, in any way, at all? Unless you give me some reasoning to back up your assertions I have no reason to believe you. But I have a good reason to think that the law of non-contradiction is pretty absolute.

No need, since most people use it in their daily lives anyways.
