Simon and fat boy are some serious dickheads this season. I flip through the channels and I see Simon and Randy laughing at this chick before she even sings and the other episode they were making fun of the way this one guy looked. Started calling the poor guy names and shit. An english faggot and an overweight loser who nobody heard of until American Idol, start personally attcking people on  t.v.

Actually I knew who Randy was before Idol because I was a big Journey fan.

I dont really care for american idol but what I saw was just wrong. It goes beyond entertainment when it's real, afterall it's a reality show. It comments directly on their personalities :thumbdown:

I don't see anything wrong in the judges ripping apart the contestants. The contestants definately know exactly what to expect or what could happen. They understand what the show is like and I am sure they have all watched it at least once. If you are signing up for something it is your responsibility to know and understand what you are signing up for.

i think it is funny what the hosts say on the show...

i mean there are some terrible people auditioning and i think after 20,000 of them my patience would where thin.

i don't think I woul consider any of the hosts good mucisians or artists though. there just all into the shitty pop culture..

funny but very stupid tv...never the less..i am watching it right now.

They actually acted like that every season., They just show different aspects of personalities this season. More people begging, They hold back allt he good singers for the hollywoodshows.

I taped the whole season five without commercials and I predicted that Taylor could be the winner after his first audition.

And 99% of the time, Simon is right in his judgement of who can sing or not.

The business is hard and you really have to be good.

After watchign tens of thousands of people coming in doing that kind of shit is like the idots on jerry Springer who make themselves look ignorant to the standards all of us think we have.

If someone gets up and is miserable and sings bad. And they really can't sing.

And I too was a journey fan and Randy does a lot of other musical things besides be a judgfe for forty minutes a night on American Idol. He is currently doi9ng the Mariah Carey concerts.

But has also orchestrated and arranged for Whitney houston and a lot of other diva singers and some top groups.

Paula, shes on cloud nine.

I really do not think that this season so far is anywhere near the quality of what the finalists of Season Five was.

Today was also the third week for Chris Daughtry's single hit which is still number one

Another thing is that last year they showed more people who went to Hollywood. This season they showed less of those who went and only at the end of each days audition did they inform the viewers that so many went to Hollywood. Yeah, they also had some disgusting people begging. And they played on the emotions with the old man and his dead wifes tribute to be on American Idol. That was a little corny since the age limit is again at 28 or 29.

I think I would completely disagree. Just because you're in the pop scene doesn't mean you don't know your music. I mean, they know pitch, key, etc. etc. It's not like they're up there spouting bullshit.

Most pop singers didn't write the material. They are singers...and good at that. But most of the pop music is made by people that never get their faces shown. The people on american idol are just covering other songs and singing from memory. Given enough training and time, and I think anyone can learn to sing properly. This can be said with guitar. But its the people the invent new things and write the music are the inovators and true artists.

I have family high up in the country music business. Most pop artists simply perform as it is written... In my eye they are not the artist. They are usually singing, dancing, and looking sexy. The producers put A songwrite with B band with C pop singer = Money.

There is also a ton of computer technology that goes into voice enhancement. They can replicate the results live too. A LOT of people use this. Im not bullshitting either. This just what my uncle told me.

I know people's voices can be manipulated. But there ARE people who can sing in pop. And if you think you should need to write your music to be a musician, I hope you never say people in orchestras are good musicians. Writing is not a requirement to be a musician, it's just that the better than average musician is able to not only perform but also write. I beg you to take a basic music theory class. You won't learn how to write, but you will become an improved musician (unless of course you are already a decent musician and have basic theory knowledge, I don't know you personally so maybe you do, I'm not trying to attack you in anyway.)

That show is funny, I watch it because of the bad singers, I was laughing along with them. :lol:
There was this stupid guy from Utah on there and he was a very bad singer, he thought they were too rude to him, but it was true he couldnt even sing at all!
That is about the only time I like watching the show, because of all the bad singers.

HAHA....Classical music is WHOLE different story. We are talking pop. And I can assure that if country music does it pop has been doing it. Country is just now starting to really hit the pop charts in a noticable way the last few years.

BTW...I have been playing guitar for years...I have taken music classes and some lessons. I have even had lessons from a professional through my uncle. With my music that I make is based around jam and improve...alot of the stuff I write have a more heavy influence to jazz despite I don't have a HUGE collection but some good stuff. Music is a huge passion of mine.. I try to expand my knowledge of music far beyond the pop realm. Musically all songs on pop radio are structured the exact same way and have the same feel...its so repetive... i just dont dig it.

But above all.. There are some real quality musicians/artists that are played on pop radio. You might not know there name or they are a member of the band but have a bigger impact that you realize. The real mucisians are being paid by the studio and then work with other producers. But the "music" that is put out like I described does not qualify the lead singer an artist. It is producer controlled and they really don't have a huge say on what goes on. It's basically however the contract it laid out...everyone's is different. But I am generalizing what I consider pop music.

Don't get me wrong, I generally agree with people's view of pop. I also understand that most of the best musicians in pop are the writers/producers and things of that nature. My point was just that you do not need to be writing what you are performing to be a good musician. Many jazz artists don't, along with classical.

And again I wasn't trying to suggest in anyway that you don't know anything about music. Lessons and classes put you ahead of the majority of people who play guitar and think they know what they are doing. Improv is the hardest aspect of music IMO, and people who are able to become even decent in it possess musical abilities that many don't realize. For the longest time I was too scared to solo due to this exact view, and it took me the longest time to even become decent at it. (I'm a jazz player, by the way).

I'm simply saying that there are good performers in pop and I think Simon, Randy, and Paula all fall under that category. Hell, Randy has played with Jerry Garcia. Also with Jean-Luc Ponty, Santana, and many other prolific people that almost all would agree are true musicians. He's also a producer. So all-in-all, yes, a lot of the pop performers aren't really musicians, but I think the American Idol judges are not part of that generalization.
