Potassium substrate mixing

If fungi are such a natural lover of Potassium, has anyone ever tried mixing potatoes or something high in Potassium content into their substrate?
And if potatoes were used in the mix, would it be possible to sterilize them without killing off the vitamins, as I know most of them are on the skin of the potatoe. I know boiling potatoes will kill off most of the nutrients, but what about the potassium?

why don't you just get some fertaliser thats all potassium. potash, K2O i think it is...

um yeah i guess. i dont think it will break down. oxides are generally stable creatures.
or you could just add it unsterilized to the casing layer...

Huh, add it to the casing layer, I never considered that. I would have figured using it in the substrate mix, but good thought though.
