incubation question (using aquarium heater)

Hi, my incubation setup has two tubs, one inside the other, with water and an aquarium heater in the bottom tub. My questions:
1. What temperature will i need to keep the water at in the bottom tub to insure that the jars in the top tub are kept at a good incubation temp?

2. Can i also use this method to keep my terrarium warm after the jars are birthed, by placing it in the top tub?

1. keep your water at 86?F ... or whatever temp you need to get the inner-tub to be around 86?. just throw a $2 aquarium thermometer in the inner tub and monitor the temp 'til you find a good spot.

2. you could use this method for your terrarium too... but you want your environment to be cooler when you birth because a reduction in temp is one of the three main ways to initiate pinning (the other two being the introduction of light and fresh air exchange)
