Ex-miss Nevada USA apologizes
    #6399602 -

MIAMI - The former Miss Nevada USA, dethroned over raunchy photos posted online, apologized Saturday as her attorney pleaded for the pageant queen to be given a second chance.

Katie Rees, who appeared in photos revealing a breast(*GASP!*), exposing her thong underwear (*WOOT!*) and kissing other young women (*OH, THE HORROR!*) at a party in Tampa, said her behavior was an "isolated incident."

"I am so sorry this happened," she said at a news conference in Clearwater, reading a prepared statement. "So many of us don't realize how our actions, even one night of poor judgment, can affect the rest of our lives."

Interesting.

A pageant that celebrates the scantily-clad beauty and sexuality of youung women is put off when said winner ACTUALLY expresses her sexuality. Talk about your mixed messages. And, of course, the state of Nevada is well-known for it's high moral standards.

Also these events happened BEFORE she entered the competition, so only perfected beings (according to the pageant's subjective standards) may compete. Hmmm...

Note that the winner ONLY apologizes because she got caught and might be stripped of her crown. This behaviour denies the warrior's path of taking responsibility for one's actions.

Rees continues, "While I take full responsibility for the photographs, I just want everyone to know the truth: This incident does not represent who I am."

Um, no. Full responsibility does not encompass begging. And notice how nicely her last sentence ties into my 'True Nature' thread. If it does not represent who you are, then no act does.

We all make mistakes. We are all mortals, humans. It is whether we continue to make the same mistakes or if we choose to better ourselves that defines who we are.

No human is perfect. Jesus, who was a descendant of the Lord himself, biblically speaking, was not perfect. Still, that does not deduct from the Great things he did for his brethren.

I believe in her and she might not become what we expected her to become. But, if she believes in herself as much as I do, I know she will be Good in whichever, other, way she chooses, as long as she is true to herself and does not listen to the people that judge her for what she is truly not.

Peace, Love, Understanding.
Remember.

A classic example of American Hypocrisy at it's finest.

Except in this case, no mistakes were actually made. Everything was intentional, and now that society's Puritanical values have responded with horror that someone could actually be sexually liberated, they demand her to beg for forgiveness. Society needs a good example now and again to keep everyone else in line.

What did we expect her to become? A life-long virgin? A head dress-wearing Muslim? These girls are judged entirely on their sexuality, their lives based on their revealing clothing, their seductive body language, etc., and so who didn't expect her to continue taking that to the next step? People only know what they are taught to know, after all.
