Do cops go on sites like the shroomery and bluelight and try to bust people?

I saw this show on NBC where cops acted like 13 year old girls on the internet and had a bunch of people come over planning to fuck. Of course they all got arrested.

I was wondering if the cops/DEA/feds ever try and do shit like that on drug related sites. Try to act like they've got drugs to sell or that they want to buy drugs and bust the people they get to fall for it. Ever head of anything like that?

I haven't heard of that happening but I have heard of people on bluelight getting busted for posting pics of drugs in large quantity. f the pigs. that dateline series is interesting to watch. some guys actually got busted twice by dateline

Wow, hadn't heard of that. I mean, people would post hundreds of pills, pounds of this or that, and multiple sheets of acid very regularly, so I figured it would happen. Didn't know it had though. How the hell did they go about busting them? Surely just personal info given away in pictures or posts, or attempted PM drug deals. People get pretty personal and friendly in the social areas of that forum, often using first names locations and other personal info. If it was a PM deal though... eh... my sympathy dwindles somewhat.

I've heard of many people getting PM's trying to buy drugs by obvious pigs. There have been several cases of people getting busted via myspace, etc.

So yeah it happens a fair bit. I'd imagine that they simetimes spam out a bunch of messages asking for drugs and see who bites.

Quite a few people have posted in feedback that shady piggish messages have come to them asking to buy drugs. Beware...

Yep, and don't forget that there are also just a lot of (probably 14 year old) people that come on with no drug connections looking to get high.

I don't shout "PIG!" usually when these PM's or posts come about because it could just be some kid, and probably is. But, they're both dangerous.

i once worked with a guy who was arrested for sending death threats to his wife on a chat forum.this moron used his real name as his user name so yes this does happen.i guess he wasn't to hard for the cops to find twenty mins. later as they knocked on his door.his wife wasn't even the one to call the piggies.

That would be entrapment.

Anyhow, my answer would be if you do something remarkably stupid, and an LEO picks up on it, absolutely (no free lunches). However...what agency exactly do you think is working on this? Unless the DEA has developed a particular grudge against this site for incidents like that one on IRC (and I'd assume that to aim at the owners)...they have more serious fish to fry than adults with consumer quantities of nonaddictive drugs. The FBI obviously have jobs to do. That's it for federal...and what local police agency would waste time doing interdiction on drugs outside their jurisdiction?

You may want to read up on entrapment, and the types of entrapment recognized at the federal level and by each state. It varys. In most states, that wouldnt be entrapment. Sadly, so many people have a false understanding of entrapment and because of that they end up screwing themselves over.
