Pinning in myco-bag before mycelium is fully grown
    #631433 - 05/15/02 08:50 AM (22 years, 10 months ago)

I have a mushroom pin forming...The mycelium in my growbag is mostly done, but there's still a patch in the corner that is not colonized. If I drop the temp and expose the bag to indirect light, will the mycelium grow more and cover the rest of the bag? Or should I keep it in the dark and at 85 degrees, in an attempt to let the mycelium grow out?

Does this patch of uncolonized grain increase chances of contamination significantly, once I open the bag and harvest the first flush?

If anyone cares, I think probably the reason I have a pinhead growing is that I have exposed it to a few seconds of light a couple times, and one night I accidentally unplugged my heater, so the temp was about 75 degrees or so--for several hours. Anyway, help with this situation will be very appreciated. Thanks!

The sporeworks site says to start exposing to light at 90-100% colonized. If it is just that 1 corner my guess would be that you are 90% colonized. I'd say go for it.
