Tips for pinning earlier

This guy, I met has made rye berry neglect jars. He has many strains and he has inoculated under a hood using perfect sterile technique. This is his first time and everything has gone very well until now. He is not seeing pins in any of his jars and it has been 12 days now since he began giving them about 4 hours a day of light. The jars are of many differant strains, it appers that there is no contamination and the temperature ranges between 76-78 F, the lids are loose to allow air exchange, the cakes also have not be incubated at a higher temp, and from what he understands, this means he cannot cold shock them in to pinning. Is this normal? Will he see pins, he is feeling very discouraged as he had expected pins almost a week ago. He doesn't know what is wrong and I was wondering what tips people might have that may solve his problem and the problem of others in his position. Perhaps there are ways to pin earlier, If you have a tip or have had a similar experiance, please reply. Thank You. =)

take them out of there jars I stick my cakes in the fruiting chamber as soon as they are fully colnized hope this helps peace

You just have to be patient. The fungus will fruit when it's ready. And you can still cold shock them. Any drop in temp around 10 deg. for about 12hrs would be sufficent. And like I said, the fungus will fruit when its ready so there is no real way to "make" it fruit. Conditions have to be optimal. I would just sit back and let them do their thing. If you don't start to see something in about 10 more days, then you should stress. Best of luck to ya.

Like everyone has said, PATIENCE is KEY

It may take awhile with some strains and also id throw them in your terranium dont leave them in the jars although you can if you want to wait for pins but I think its best to throw them right in there and expose them to optimium fruiting conditions as soon as possible so the fruiting process can occur basically make sure the conditions are ideal and sterile - then your set and thats where patience will play a big role.

...personally i'de want to case those rye jars...
...I dont know how well they perform in pure form...

Hey, thanks for the imput guys my friend, is going to run a small scale experament but first I'm going to be a littIe more specific about what he is doing, he was trying to do was hippie3's myco-tec, you can read about it on PF's site, what he forgot to do was initiate invitro pinning by incubating in the light, now were trying to initate pinning after full colonization and continue the neglect tec which is where he is now. He decided to put 4 of the jars out side for the night in a box and 2 in the fridge overnight as well and see which set performs better. He assumes that the ones that go in the fridge are supposed to be in there overnight to duplicate real shroom world night time conditions. He says that he measured the temperature in the fridge at 45F and outside at about 65F from their cozy 76-78F conditions that they had previously been exposed to. The jars will remain in their respective environments for around 10 hours. I will post results as they I hear them, if you have any advise for my friend and the other readers of this thread, please post, I am trying to provide as accurate informations as possible.
