I have a perlite humidified terrarium (well at least i hope to), its a about a 10 gallon rubermaid like contanier, with a hole cut through the top to let light in, covered with plastic rapp, in the bottom i have about a 1/4 inch of water and a 1/2 inch of perlite, there is no water on the sides what factors (water or perlite) do i play with to get it right?

Try 2 inces of perlite and 1 inch of water my friend. That should do the trick. You will also need to have the temps averaging about 75f.

You're just asking how to get the humidity right? Mushroom Madness' post is the same ratio I use, 2 inches perlite and 1 inch water.
The important thing is that your cakes aren't standing in a water puddle or something. Otherwise, the ideal humidity is so close to 100% and the perlite works so well that I doubt you'll have any problems getting an ideal humidity with this method. There are also some great terrarium FAQ's and humidity FAQ's here at the shroomery, check em out, they really are super handy. Hope that's helpful to you!

hey there man I had the same problem when I first started with my terrarium it woudn't produce humidty easy solution goto your nearst pet land and buy a heatwave heating pad for like 30-40$ temps went up to about 72-76 in ceartan places works great I coudn't get my cakes and casings to pin until I did thids then they went carzy hope that helps man.
