I have a timing problem....
    #340688 - 06/14/01 01:47 PM (21 years, 11 months ago)

I have a problem I wonder if you guys could help with.

I have 2 dozen 1/2 pint jars. The first is the "NJ6"(possibly know as PF classic), and it took so long, that I went and bought the second set of jars. With the second set, I started some B+ which are moving along nicely as far as I can tell.

Here's my problem. For the FIRST set, there's only 2 jars that's aren't ready to be birthed. I'm worried that my B+ AND the NJ6 will be ready at the same time. Should I go ahead and birth the 10 jars from the 1st set?

I have two plastic boxes. One has the hand holes in the side and the other is the same size with no holes. If they BOTH get birthed at about the same time I won't have anywhere to start a the next set because both boxes will have fruiting cakes.

Did that make sense? Please help.

You can stick them in the fridge. This will hopefully buy you enough time to fruit out the first set in your chamber. If you do put them in the fridge, it'd be best to put them in something air-tight to avoid contams.

Oh shit, I do have the 10 jars that are ready in the fridge, but NOT in air-tight anything! This sucks. I bet they're all fucked.

If you have PF cake jars, then the vermiculite layer might block out the contaminants.
If you have rye jars though you might have a problem.

I don't even know what kind of substrate I have. It's a long story.

Make sure you don't push the envelope on your jars. If they bead up water too much or really, if they begin to shrink and pull away from the edges while inside....Yank'em. Some blends don't like to be in utero for a long time. Also, what's keeping you from increasing your amount of fruiting chambers??? Always make sure you use the top layer of dry vermiculite, it's a good seat belt.....But then again...you don't know your substrate huh???

YES, I KNOW ROCKSTEADY!!!

Stop watering your lawn.  You can't eat it, it doesn't get you high and it probably doesn't belong in your region of the country anyway.  Precious grass lawns

I guess at first I thought I didn't have enough space in my closet for another chamber, but I could probably put another one in there.

I guess that really solves my problem. Thanks to those who helped!!

Learyfan, Yes...... forget about the two that are not finished, just put them aside for a later time. Take the 10 jars that are finally finished after 2 months of long waiting, and birth them into your terrarium..... perlite, no peroxide, set them right on the perlite vermiculite side down (after you scrape off most of the verm).
