vermiculite/perlite or expanded clay?

I cannot find any vermiculite or perlite in my town. But there is a lot of *expanded clay*, which is said to have the same function as to air and water.

Is it possible to use expanded clay instead of vermiculite/perlite? Did someone of you already tried?

they have perlite and vermiculite rye millet and filter disks.
no i dont work for them for all you smart asses they just have really good stuff.
if you try the expanded clay post what happens beacause i would rather not pay the shipping on a shit-load of vermiculite every time but i will if i have to. good luck.
