casing with H2O2
    #621957 - 04/29/02 03:00 AM (21 years, 10 months ago)

i was wondering if anyone has tried casing with just a little H2O2 in the verm.? I figure this will prevent most contams from getting a start when you setup the casing. This is just to be a healthy as posible while tying to increase yield, so i don't really mind the extra time colonization might take. i gues it might make scratching or shaking safer.

thanks for the help.

He did not ask if it would hurt or not. I have used it on verm casing and 50/50 casing with good success. If you don't get the mycelium accustomed to the stuff early, it will delay it during the casing process. What I mean is, if you don't start them out on agar with peroxide, then they will slow later on when you introduce it.

I probably wouldnt do it unless i was habitually losing casings to contams. otherwise you might just be slowing down your mycelial growth needlessly.

then again, the exact amount of h202 you want to use hasnt been established yet.

I say go for it. The only thing you are really risking is slow growth like everyone has already said, so if you don't mind that I say go for it. Best of luck.
