Light question for Texas Strain...
    #6238733 -

So I got the texas strain from ralphsters because it said that i dont really need any light and that would be easier for my setup if they didnt need light.

So im asking i guess how much light would be the most effective. Also what is the minimum amount of light this strain can get, and what would happen if its gets no light.

If you have enough light to read by, then there's enough light to help initiate pinning. You dont need much, or any (I've seen shrooms pin and grow in my closet that I'd forgotten about) but light is one of the triggers that tells the mycelium that hey fucker! it's time to fruit.

if you can give it 4 hours of light a day it'd be plenty. Indirect sunlight will work great. I assume you're trying to be stealthy about the shit, so just sit it somewhere for those 4 hours when you know they wont be disturbed or walked in on, then stick 'em back in the dark. Note that with no light you'll get extremely delayed, or no pinning. Not good. 4 hours is enough to get the ball rolling if you're trying to keep em out of sight.

I have had shrooms grow when I did not expect them too as well!!!

they are pretty stubborn fuckers when they want to be

the best comparison that comes to mind is like a roach that you squashed but its still trying to get away even tho its guts are on the floor

"Prolific fruiter and sensitive to light (will fruit with little to no light exposure"

^quote form the site, and i couldnt find any other info as to wether this was true so i was asking here...

You can't do with NO light. Cubes require light, and the more intense the better. Enough light to read by is not enough for good results, unless you're satisfied with a few straggly fruits. Indirect light from a window is best, fluorescent or another light source that produces a light temperature above 5000K will come closest to duplicating sunlight and help to deliver more prolific pinsets, provided you also manage the other, even more important pinning triggers.

thanks a lot for that info, that being said anyone care to tell me what the more important triggers are? or do you just mean humidity temp and air?

Exactly right. High humidity, temperature drop, and fresh air exchange.

In order of importance to pinning.

1. Full colonization

2. An increase in air exchange instead of just gas exchange, which suddenly lowers the CO2 levels.

3. Steady, slow evaporation of moisture from the substrate.

4. Light

Humidity will aid in primordia formation for the reason that they won't form in very dry air, but it's not really a pinning trigger, per se, but more of a 'helper'. If it were an actual trigger, they'd pin in the jars because that's where humidity is highest. Number 3 above indicates a high humidity or the moisture would be evaporating very fast, rather than slowly.
