injecting water?
    #621992 - 04/29/02 04:32 AM (21 years, 7 months ago)

hi to all

i'm new to this forum an to shroom cultivation - my first couple of jars are being cultivated at the moment:)

want i want to ask is: is it possible to inject sterelized water/rice powder mixture in to the cakes after the first or second flush, and thus prolonging the cakes life?

Well astaroth, it seems you are posting on everyone else's posts just to up your post count. And you don't even answer their question. Maybe you should change your name to assahole. He did not ask about dunking, but yet you give another one word answer. Sorry I came in on your thread here to let this guy know he is an ass.

Sounds ok to me klj. You might run into a higher risk for contams by doing that. But I guess it wouldn't be any higher risk than dunking. So either way should be fine, in my opinion. Plus the rice powder will add a little nutrients to your cake. I dont know try it out and let us know how it goes. Good luck.

my understanding is that cakes typically run out of water before they run out of nutrients. as such, i think you'd be better off injecting only water into the cakes so you don't risk contams.

i don't think it really matters HOW you re-hydrate the cakes - just so long as you do it

take care! stay safe...

Bizarro, you are right about the cakes losing water before nutrients. (what the hell have I been smoking...LOL) anyway....

I have tried both injection/reservoir teks and dunk tek and have had similar great results from both. I now use only the dunk tek as I feel (just my own hunch) that it's less traumatic for the cake as well as much easier to do. If you search through the threads here or the FAQ you'll see some good advice on dunking, I'd suggest trying it sometime.

I just read on another site (http://www.shroomwizard.com/growguide.html) that adding a spoonful of honey to water before mixing the BRF and vermaculite would increase harvest. Instead of injecting BRF with the water, try injeting the water with some honey. I would be interested in the results, I am not cultivating and dont plan to, but I think that might work. If I can talk my friend into doing it, mabie I'll be able to post some results if I ever do it. Anyone think this might work? Has it been done?
