You can get nice couches for 1500ish.

Its more who makes it, and where you buy it.  Mine was slightly over 2 grand.

if you go back to IKEA now for the same couch, I bet it isnt even there any more, and they have stopped making it. My sister bought a table and chairs there, but only 4 chairs. Went back 6 months later to get 2 more chairs, and they had been discontinued. haha

I got my full sectional, and pimp coffee table for like $1200.  It's not leather, but it's incredibly comfy, and suede like blue material.  Double recliners, etc.  And its HUGE, it seats like 8 people.  I would call Ikea, or go to the store you bought it from, tell them what happened.  See if there a manufacturers warranty or anything on it, or if you can return it.  That's not cool that a 10 month old couch would fall apart like that.  But I guess that's what Ikea products do  :confused:  I've never bought furniture from them, just little stuff.

That must have been the most frustrating and funniest conversation ever!

I dunno, I have alot of ikea furniture, my dresser, wardrobe and desk are all from ikea and they're still in good condition. I've never bought a couch from there tho. My exes, couches and bed are from ikea, the couch is still intact, but the beds broken twice now.....

I bought a sofa, loveseat and chair in leather (everywhere, not just the seats)
for $1500, I took an ox of a chick in to test them with me, we jumped all over
the shit, it's the set that didnt give under the weight, it went home with me.

I know that nobody probably cares about my continuing battle with IKEA.  But, I will keep you guys updated.  The sole purpose for this is to show how utterly shitty this company is so that no Shroomerites out there get duped into buying their crappy stuff.

I sent in the pictures of my couch.  I waited several days and I finally called IKEA to ask them what was going on.  The woman said that "Quality Control" had looked at the pictures and decided that "it wasn't a quality issue", i.e. I'm stuck with the couch and they won't replace it, fix it, or give me my money back.  The girl said that she would send the pictures back to Quality Control so that they would have to look at it again.  They better replace this couch or it's fucking WAR!  :crankey:

On top of that I bought several wool rugs from them that absolutely refuse to stop shedding.  There are little wool fibers all over my floor and they stick to your clothes and shit.  It's worse that having a shedding pet.  I have shook them out and vaccuumed them literally scores of times since I have had them.  Here's proof of how these things shed:

Disgusting isn't it?  I can understand some shedding when you first get it....but continual and heavy shedding forever?  Ugh.

You warned me not to shop at IKEA and I did it anyway.  Why did I not listen to you?  WHY?!?

I figured that their stuff was reasonably priced and I had a buddy who worked there that got me the employee discount for my stuff.  Instead of spending $20,000 to furnish my place I got away with spending less than half of that.  I thought it would all work out.  I was wrong. 

I should have bought stuff from a real furniture store  :frown:
