Theylook a lot like Agrocybes I found recently. can't remember the species. They are not actives, though. Even if those aren't agrocybe, I can tell they are not actove psilocybes. Hope this helps

You are on the right track. Those have a very psilocybey look to them. My guess would be naemataloma. They do look similar to cyanofibrilosa, however the stipe is not right. Inactive naemataloma.

Yes, that first image is cool. I love when the little babies are attached to the clump of mycelium. Don't get too discouraged. This is not the easiest or quickest hobby to learn. There is way too much information to absorb. If you are in Seattle area just stick with the chip beds...and keep hunting...

We all make our mistakes but one thing though: If it doesn't bruise blue then it's most likely NOT active! Those are obviously bruising a rusty brown color.

Some mushrooms won't bruise obviously, so that is by no means a way to determine a mushroom isn't active. However, bluing is a great tool to id species, or to at least put you on the right track, keeping in mind that even some mushrooms that bruise blue are not active.

Do yourself a favor and study the habitat and features of mushrooms that grow in your area, so you will have a better clue of what to look for on your hunt. You might also learn to ID just one or two mushrooms, and only look for those until you find them. For example, P. cyans grow crazy in seattle, and are relatively easy to ID and will bruise readily. They are difficult to mistake once you know what you are looking for. The same applies to other active species.

those dont even macroscopically look like cyans...i.e - caps arent wavy, the color isnt right, gills arent similar at all...and MOST obviously in my opinion, is that the stems on those mushrooms you picked are brown/copper.

P.Cyanescen stems are ALWAYS white!!! this IMO is the easiest way to tell non-actives apart from cyanescens. Cyanescens' stems are always white and very thick and durable.

you'll find some this season, im sure. it just takes perserverance. the hardest patch to find is your first! even with seeing all the pics people post, it's just hard to identify them yourself for the first time. once you see them in real life, even just once, the hunting and ID'ing process will be MUCH MUCH easier for you. just keep checking out local gardens, parks, and even walk around your neighborhood for awhile...you never know, you might just find a fat patch just hangin out a few blocks away from your house  :smirk: stranger things have happened.

peace and good luck.

should pro'lly stop soliciting hunting partners in the hunting forum though.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.
