advertisementA 22-year-old Tucson man died Tuesday after spending 4 1/2 years in a vegetative state caused by a cocaine and heroin overdose.
Wayne Hardy was found by his mother, Robin Hardy, slumped in a chair on March 28, 2002. Paramedics found a syringe, a blackened spoon and a lighter on his desk, the Arizona Daily Star reported in April 2002. He was 17.
Wayne's father, K.C. Hardy, chose not to talk about his son's death when contacted Friday night. He said it has been a stressful time for the family.
Wayne Hardy had two strokes and a heart attack after injecting the drugs and required constant nursing care to dispense medications, control seizures and fevers, and maintain his permanent feeding tube, the Star reported.
Not long after he fell into the coma, his parents told the Star that they had tried to discipline him for his drug use and had tried talking him into getting treated for drug addiction.
Hardy refused treatment, and his parents decided not to put him into an involuntary drug-rehabilitation program.
The Hardys believed they'd done enough to dissuade Wayne and his younger sister from doing drugs, K.C. Hardy said.
"I drilled (it) into their heads since they were 2 years old. It's the one thing I did constantly," he told the Star in 2002.
"It probably backfired on me."

In the other thread someone talks about being contacted by a police detective that knows jeelix talked to him on here... so the person on the 23rd might be police...

Considering it was the 17th and he passed on the 21st i'd say the report was just a typo and it was 4 1/2 days not years...

The problem was the article mentioned he was in a coma.  People in coma's tend not to post.  But I got the info on it and apparently he was up and around and the article was incorrect.

Always sucks losing someone, especially a chill oldschooler.

That sucks. I didn't know the guy. I do seem to remember that name from somewhere, maybe I've talked to him at some point and just can't remember. :justdontknow:

It's sad that something like this can happen with all of the information available to anyone about dosages and dangerous drug interactions.

If unsure of dosage just don't do it. If on multiple drugs at once and unsure of possible dangerous combos, just don't mix it. Always start lower than even the recommended dose if it is the first time trying something.. to see if your system even agrees with the drug or not. With patience and the right way of going about this sort of thing, the chances of dying from something like this are very slim to none. It's pretty simple IMO :shrug:
