I actually do like the Beastie Boys rap/hiphop stuff. I just have a preference for punk over rap/hiphop/whatever.
Here's one of the Beasties major influences, Bad Brains.
I actually got them high once when they played a dive bar in my town back in the early 90's. A friend of mine was working security that night and I was the only one who had any weed on me that night.

I entered my first serious episode of pot, pill and alcohol abuse listening to the Beastie Boys when they were something new and different. I'm old. lol

you are getting old too my friend. I think I was 16 years old at the time. I dropped out of school at 15. I've done OK but I don't recommend that. Things are sooo fucking different now.

I think Licensed To Ill came out about the time I went to college.
And I was always a big fan of The Bad Brains also (having been a punk through most of my teens). I 'discovered' them on a compilation cassete that I picked up in the early 80's called "Rat Music for Rat People, vol 1". Loved em right away and sought out more of their music. "Banned in D.C." is still my favorite album of theirs (and not a bad song also).

Don't feel too bad. I graduated and I still have nothing.
I got 2-3 semesters of college left. Maybe things will get better after that. Doubt it though, I'm too antisocial to make a good employee.
At least I'm also incapable of having a relationship so I don't have to worry about having a family to support.

I'm rediscovering some of my old musical tastes, particularly punk. I'm thinking about building an automated "post-apocalyptic" soup and bread restaurant called "That Damned Reagan".

Yah. Similarities end there. I have a family to support and own a business that I would rather be an employ in. lol
I'd love to go back to school but can't now because I have to run the business and support the family. I doubt I could tolerate all of the youthful and ignorant arrogance I would encounter if I did go back anyway. At least now I can simply fire those types and shoot them if they come back as disgruntled employees.
I also doubt I could goof off all day online if I worked for someone else, but I may could make more money. Money isn't everything but it will buy most of it.

I still like some Beastie Boys. Sabotage, Sure Shot, Intergalatic, and so on. Reminds me of middle school fun times.
That recent movie they made was a garbage money grab though.
