Myco bag reverse dunk????
    #620117 - 04/27/02 01:41 AM (21 years, 9 months ago)

Since I have seen with my own eyes that dunking does increase yields on cakes
Why not pump via a valve and airline size water line,, water from a gallon jug and fill the bag with cooled {boiled before} water into the bag. Hence soaking for 24 then birthing the next day..Anyone follow me???? Then just cut open then put into a container and case?....J

Dunking mycobags works indeed.
After the 3rd flush I simply filled some sterile water so the "cake" floated in the bag and left it for 24 hous. then I drained the water out of the bag and sealed it again with tape.

This is the 4th flush, ecuadors.

Yea anno, but I dont grow anything in the bags. I fill the bags almost to capacity. I like the huge amounts of substrate that can be sterilzed with ease. I finally read the M.C. and stamets said first and second flush always contain the most for yield. After theres little nutrients left and almost no water. I can see how dunking after flushes will extend some more flushes but I have also seen if you dunk you get mass amounts of pins and little aborts on cakes because the cakes are refreshed with the max amount of water meaning more pins can be supported ..I was talking about pumping sterilised water into a unopened bag and letting the huge brick absorb to capacity for massive first flush potential. Larger fist two flushes mean faster time for contams to set in.....Birth then add casing(keep in phase one.) move to phase 2 after a day or 2 depending on the strain...changing the enviroment during each stage is important for good success... We need a intermidiate forum!!!!!!

I've started to dunk all my cakes for atleast 12 hours before they are birthed. I find that the 86 degree stay in my incubator for 2 weeks drys them out a little. Dunking defently improves my yeilds.

it's good to see dunking gaining in popularity.
it's a very useful tek,
and needs to be publicized so more people can
benefit.
