Fruit myco bag in bag or out?
    #1294260 -

I have a fully colonized myco bag would it be best to fruit it in the bag or as a cake? Also would cold shocking speed up pinning

It would be much better to fruit as a cake in a terrarium than in the bag, but this hinges on the fact that you can provide the correct temperatures and humidity levels. If there is a question of whether or not you can do this, I would say fruit in the bag. Also, even better than fruiting as a cake, you could slice the mycobag cake up and case it with a thin (~1/4") layer of slightly wet verm on the bottom and a thicker (~1/2-3/4") layer of 50/50 verm/peat moss with 15% oyster shells on the top. This would probably be the maximum yield.

Yes, cold shocking would likely speed up pinning.

I just did this recently with my mycobag (EQ strain):
Once fully colonized, I allowed the bag 2 weeks to pin. It failed to do so in this time. I then cut the bag open, cold dunked it (in the fridge) with water and a bit of H202 for 24 hrs, and then fruited it as a cake. I got a small yield from this, maybe 30 grams wet. Once it had finished the 1st flush, I cased it with the above method. The casing is now in the fruiting chamber and I am expecting very good results (especially because of the light first flush).

I hope this helped you out in making some decisions. Good luck with everything!

I would use that bag of colonized rye to spawn on some pastuerized horse poo, let that colonize and then case with a 50/50 + mix of coco coir... why?

Well for one you'll get a SHITLOAD more shrooms! Poo grows bigger, fatter, more potent mushies...

It's also very easy just as long as you research it here on the shroomery forum!  I've only had ONE grow success in my past and it only resulted in 2 people being able to trip... but now I spawned 12 1/2 pint creeper jars onto some horse poo, and I've got like 600% more mycelium now, and it's "poo mycelium" which is better
than just colonized rye, or colonized BRF cakes... nothings better than poo except for compost that is specially formulated for growin' shrooms (and even then they usually will have horse/cow poo in it).

I just birthed the cased poo today, and soon there will be MAD creeper pins!!  I had no contamination problems

I hope this helps,
