english shrooming

ive been looking for the 'liberty cap' in fields in my local area which is in the south east of england. however i cant seem to find any anywhere, although i find mushrooms which look similar, i will post a photo, but is it safe to eat brown mushrooms, or are some that are poisnous?

Some are poisonous, yes. Do not eat random little brown mushrooms (LBM's). Keep looking.

it is never safe to eat any mushroom which you have not identified to a taxon known to be safe to eat. that simple.

learn to identify them and keep looking. if you find something you wouls like help identifying, post here with a complete description and if you can post photos. we'll be glad to help.

the first place to start IMO is with the target habitat. learn to recognize in what conditions they grow. if you look at pictures of other peoples finds, pay close attention to the details common to them.

if you're going to teach yourswelf to hunt and identify mushrooms then it's all in the research and the details.
