what am I to think?
    #6173606 -

I bought my boyfriend tickets to see Billy Talent come February. I was so excited about my purchase for him, that I had to gloat and tell him that I got him something he is REALLY gonna like. He asked for a hint. And boiling down hints once he figured tickets he figured Billy Talet, so I caved and told him. Well he didn't even sleep on it before he puts a negative spin on it and says that he probably won't be able to go because its on a Thursday. He would need to take Thurs. and Fri. off of work. But he can take a week off in March or something to go on Spring Break in Florida, and possibly go to Germany come May. What the hell and I to think? I am crushed. I mean sure I could probably find someone else to go with to this concert, but the point is I wouldn't have purchased them at all, seeing as I wanted to go with him, cuz I knew he really liked the band. But I wouldn't have dished out $100 at this point unless it was for us to go.

What do you think? I am mad, sad and disappointed.  :frown:

All people have different prioritys his just arnt what you expected/wanted. If I were in your shoes id be a bit upset too but its nothing you cant get over right?

Just bring a good friend to the show and enjoy it for yourself. Theres no point in letting the tickets going to waste now.

Who knows maybe he'll suprise you and take time off for the show...

yea I understand that. I just didn't see why he had to say no almost right away. I mean he didn't even give it 5 minutes. I do hope he decides to go, seeing as he can take time off to go to florida and Germany, I am only asking for 2 days. I have already inquired about returning the tickets, though I doubt that will happen.

thanks for your imput.

There must be a good reason why he can't take those two days off..

If i was him i would want too, i think anyone would so i'm wondering why he can't.

Dont go with a friend if it was for the two of you as much for the band, you'll probably have a little emotional conflict over it, both you and your boyfriend.

Put them up on e-bay, im not sure its particularly righteous, but at least you'll get your money back, maybe even a little extra you can spend on him some other way to show your

Sounds like your boyfriend is the worry-wart type. True?

Some people, when something is different than what they expect, can only think of how it will cause a hassle.

Others adjust to surprises in a healthier way.

Anyway, you know him better than we do... maybe it's really hard for him to take a few days off at his job.  Or maybe he's just a dick; only you know that.

Just don't take it personally; I know you expected him to jump for joy, but he didn't for his own weird reasons.

Heh, sometimes I could be like that too. I'm sure that he appreciates the gesture, but he doesn't/can't make the commitment to take those days off. Sometimes it's a little hard to make small commitments like that and it just becomes a stress case because you've set an expectation for him.

If you bought me the tickets, I'd be stoked. But sometimes I'm pessimistic and I can really relate to your bf. He should honestly lighten up a little though (I could too lol). I wouldn't really rub it in his face or blow up at him or anything. It's kind of a small thing, but hopefully you two work it out and try to avoid things like that in the future. Shit like that can add up.

Mikeyork - yea that is what I am saying, I just don't see why he can't give me two days when he can give up a week to go to florida for spring break.. which is a VERY touchy subject with me.. but that is a different story

Browndustin - I am sure that is his intentions but come on, like its not til Feb. and it was a negative response already. He has done this before with Wonderland tickets, and he didn't go. So I don't want to hold out for him.

Jackenobi - if I can't refund the tickets I will go with my room mate, I mean I do like Billy Talent, I seen them at Bayfest in 2005, GREAT show. I just wanted to share that with him. So I will more than likely go, unless I can sell them for a significant price more than I paid. haha

(my feelings were just hurt, I am sure he would have freaked out if I said the same thing to him, I just don't think he thinks about "what if the shoe was on the other foot." Which is unfortunate.

yes he is a worry-wart, but I don't know how hard it is to get a couple days off from his work, but I mean he plans on taking off a week or more to go to Florida for spring break, that is why I am finding this hard to swallow... you can go drool over skanky bitches, but you can't take a couple days to come see me and enjoy a concert?..

Hey - I would be feeling pretty much how you seem to be feelig right now, disappointed, exasperated, and upset.  Especially since this is the 2nd time you've tried to be a good girlfriend and buy him tickets as a surprise.  It does seem a little ridiculous that the concert is month away and he can't take 2 days off with that much notice, but can get a week off for spring break in Florida?  Sounds fishy to me. I dont know what he does for work, but it sort of sounds like he didn't even TRY to get the time off, he was just negative about it from the beginning.  That's lousy, I'm sorry hun  :frown:

Oh, and he's going to Spring Break in Florida without you??? Why?  I mean, why would he want to go away to a big party like that  without his woman??

That's what I was going to say, but the thing is, he wouldn't WANT to go without me, so it wouldn't be an issue   If he tried though, that would not fly.

Not to worry you, but guys don't go to Florida Spring Break to hang out with other guys. If you can't talk to him about your concerns, maybe he's not good for you. Cut him loose.

I have expressed my feelings towards it, he knows EXACTLY how I feel about Spring Break. Ugh, it totally stresses me out. He does not seem to see why he should not be able to go. Fuck this makes me sad all over again and I don't think he goes on this trip until Feb. or March... i dunno :frown:

If that was me I would go out and find a more mature boyfriend and take him to the concert. He sure as hell would appreciate it and even if he thought it might be hard to actually make it, we could figure something out cos it's MONTHS away.

Bowers - I don't know what his work situation is like, but maybe its because of his taking all of that time off of work that he feels like it might be hard to ask his boss for even more time off. I would never ask for any more time off if I've already got two weeks off in the relatively near future.

I hope thats all it is about.
