lack of mind control

i have a weak mind. i gave myself an anxiety attack the other night, and its the first one ive ever had. it might be due to my big imagination... i always get stuck in thoughts of negative or frightening things, and can't seem to get them out of my head, like the lack of mind control you experience during a bad shroom trip. i have friends who, you can just give them shrooms or even acid at any time any place, and theyll literally take them on the spot. they're strong willed enough to never had bad trips.sometimes ill get a thought in my head, like a thought that bothers me, and it just loops, like when you get an annoying song stuck in your head, except its a vivid thought or mental picture. id like to be able to have a good time on mushrooms without having to worry about losing my mind. anyway, im interested in meditation to exercise and gain control of my own mind. can anyone out there reccommend a good way to meditate or have some other suggestion that might help?

And yes.. I went through a stage, where I would think of a terrible scene.. or an action and It would not get the fuck out of my head. I would just clear my head with an image I take comfort in. Go into a good memory. Focus everything you have on it. What were the smells like, how old where you, how much fun did you have?

Do you work out? That is extremely important for mental health.

And as far as people that just take random drugs on the spot.. yeah, I cant do that. I like to prepare my self. Everyones different mate. Some people cant enjoy certain drugs. Look at what you wanted to get from that drug and obtain in another way. Mind altering drugs are just one of the many paths we can take.

yes. ive taken acid once and mushrooms a couple of times. i had a panic attack/flashback two nights ago. it felt a lot like i had taken acid for about ten minutes, but ive never had a flashback or a panic attack, so i cant say which it was. ive read the symptoms of both though, and they appear to be essentially the same thing.

i was on a poppy tea binge, and i think it spurred the flashback, or anxiety attack, whatever it is. i read that it lowers cognitive thinking, but im not sure what to make of that. i didnt notice any big mental changes, other than being in sleep-mode the whole time.

My advice would be to stop taking psycadelics for a while, and learn to meditate.

Something you may not be aware of but might be of interest to you. People who suffer compulsive disorders like obsessive compulsive disorder often complain of a symptom where parts of their mind continue to drag them into or back to negative thoughts or thinkings.
Like if they really dont want to think of something really negative or weird, they will find themselves getting caught in a loop and keep thinking of that very thing.

thats very interesting. my mom always said that when i was a kid, i had a little bit of ocd. i would wash my hands a lot and they'd get red and dry. i remember math being hard too, cause id have to check three or four times to make sure i had just the right answer. i dont notice it anymore though, except maybe with the compulsive thoughts. i guess it kinda faded away, or i just willed myself out of it.
