Unidentified purple mushrooms......

Last night a friend and I were camping and we walked across a patch of purple mushrooms. In the morning after handleing the mushrooms they appeared much darker purple. Will we trip if we eat them and what species are they?

You will not trip, so don't eat them. They look Inocybe to me. Hard to say with the pics though.

Damnit. THe picture doesnt show exactly the picture is bad. I thought almost all purple meant pysilocyde? Could someone else help out please.

If a mushroom bruises blue then its most likely a psilocybin mushroom, but even then don't consume until you get a 100% ID from one of the many knowledgeable people here.

No clue but if you try to get clearer pics, and give us more information like Location, Habitat, Cap description, Gill description, Spore print color, and Stem description then I'm sure after you give the thread some time someone might be able to ID it. read this before you post a proper description - http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/5731447/an/0/page/0

Inocybes would be a good guess. Maybe cortinarius. Definatley not active. I suggest you do some research if you want to continue hunting.

They are just purple. The stem is kinda white with alot of purple speckles. Under spruce trees after a big rain.

post a better pic and get a spore print.

Ideally you want to do a print on half white paper, half black paper, so that if the spores are dark or light, you'll get a good print to decipher.

I suggest you read up a lot on the Psilocybin mushrooms that grow in your area. This site has a great reference guide - http://www.shroomery.org/8461/Which-mushrooms-grow-wild-in-my-area

That way in the future when you go hunting you will be more positive if you have indeed found a active.
