What you have is something in the cortinarius genus. The genus contains some beautiful purple mushrooms. All members of this genus should be assumed to be toxic and not consumed. That is because some members of this genus contain a kidney toxin that has a latent period of several weeks. Yipee!

did they look anything like these? these little buggers will kill ya. i found these last year september 28th in nova scotia under conifers near chanterelles, destroying angels, fly aminitas and bollets they are very purple, but vary to brown and white as well, solid stipe, with white to off-white gills. never, ever under any circumstance east even a nibble of this or anything like it. you will most likey die. MJ, what do you think, i dont really know what this species is, but im assuming it is an inocybe.

i know its not that lethel. but it CAN kill you if you eat an amount one would eat if one thought it might be a shroom.
i figured toxic mushrooms might as well seem deadlier than they are, no point in people being over confedant.
