Back in March/April I ordered a Pedro Cutting
    #6137370 -

Seven inches long, tip cutting, one inch diameter.
Well, it's finally rooted, but has shown NO NEW GROWTH( only root grown, no top growth.
Finally it is pupping out in one place, and I am so excited.

My question is this: if the top portion hasn't grown at all, and only roots and pups are growing, why not make ANOTHER cutting( of the cutting) and lay it sideways, in hopes of getting 4 or 5 pups.

The pup cactus is deep dark green and looks damn healthy, however the original bit is lighter green, almost yellow in some places, and has been suffering for some time( it seems)

So I was just wondering if now that it pupped the main one will grow, or if I should do another cutting before the main one dies./.

Input?

You won't necessarily get any more pups just because the cactus is horizontal.

It may take some time to show new growth from the tip. It takes them a while to recover from the whole cutting, drying , and rooting experience. They stop growing altogether this time of year anyway. When April comes, expect it to start shooting up ( provided you keep it outside and it has a big enough pot ). Do not try to make a cutting in the winter months. Wait until May or June when they are growing at their fastest, this way you stand the smallest chance of rotting.

Taking a log cutting and laying it sideways, half burried in compost will usually guarantee you a few more pups.

Brewmaster: Well, the mescaline will still be in there, but I'd be afraid of it conjealing and trying to escape after it grew in size from eating all the other shit in my fridge, and possibly my dogs if it got out.
