cobweb favors stale air or still air?
    #6089150 - 09/22/06 01:01 AM (17 years, 6 months ago)

Which is more of a factor in aiding cobweb? the actual staleness of  air or the fact that it isn't moving?
Could you circulate stale air inside a sealed tub and avoid cobweb?
It seems like there would be plenty of fresh air inside most mono-tub type setups even with out the holes.

I'm talking about exchanging the old air to trigger fruiting then running a small computer fan inside until harvest.
Just might work? or doomed to fail?

During fruiting, your MUSHROOMS want fresh, moving air. Stale or still air is bad for your mushrooms. That being said, stale and/or still air will also aid the growth of cobweb and trichoderma, the two most common contaminants in home mushroom culture.

A fruiting chamber needs fresh, slightly moving air for best results, with the least contaminants. There is no need to filter the air leading to a fruiting chamber. A very small fan might help, but make sure it doesn't dry out the surface.
