Top 100 DJs, that is funny. How do they choose these DJs and what Metrics do they use to measure how close to #1 they are?

List like that are purely opion. Remember that Opions are like Assholes, everybody has one!

This is kind of like when MTV listed the top # of rappers of all time. Kanye West was chosen the #1 rapper of all time. What a bunch of horseshit malarkey!

IMO, the best dj's of this year are the 2 in the Virus Syndicate: M.R.K. 1 and the Plastician.

Are we going for best, or simply the most popular?

Now and then those match up, but not often. There are loads of stellar DJs out there that just dont have the same 'mass market appeal'. Just because Britny Spears has sold millions of records, doesnt mean she has talent. Just because Tietso can do the jesus pose and have 10s of thousands bow down before him, doesnt make him a great DJ.

But for me, I'd vote for

Sleep Archive
Tractile
Ricardo Villalobos
Deadbeat

Hawtin I think is great, Sleeparchive is a hypnotic headfuck, Tractile sounds like an industrial complex has woken up and decided to make music. If nature had speakers, they'd play Ricardo Villalobos. Deatbeat kicked my ass at Mutek this year, played a stellar set that had me dancing like no tomorrow, set of the festival for me.

Well, not sure if you could call Tractile / Sleeparchive or Deadbeat DJs, they do live sets (ie: a setup of laptops, synths, hardware, etc, and not swapping records)
