About To Get Fired From Work

About To Get Fired From Work
Ok here's the story...

I was feeling ill last Fri/Sat so I decided to ring in sick on Sat morning for work. The problem was that one person had already rang in sick and so my supervisor really needed me in, so I went anyway despite feeling shit as there was no-one to cover.

I had almost lost my voice, my throat was very sore and I had no cash on me whilst serving customers and I wasn't allowed to leave the desk, so very stupidly I took a drink from the side without paying for it, although I had full intention of paying for it with money from my locker whist I was on my break, for some dumb reason I forgot that even then I would have to explain to my supervisor who would be on the till covering for my break why I would have just put the drink back in the fridge. Anyhow it didn't come to that as she found out earlier as she knew I didn't have a drink on me when I walked in that morning.

My boss has now suspended me from work and I have to go to a disiplinary hearing at 10am tomorrow. I rang a couple of mates about this and they seem certain that I will be fired. So umm.. any advice on how to get a new job? I think I'm screwed!

just tell them what you told us... If you intended on paying for it, what harm could it do to be honest? ... nothing else if not I recommend you prostitute your body =D

I've never heard of someone being fired for that...disciplinary action maybe.

If they do fire you for something as petty as that...tell them to suck your dick.

imply your force of will, I've talken myself out of getting fired over 5 times at my last job, there was one time that my manager had me totally fired and was through with the matter, but I kept pressing until he gave me my job back, people are creatures that bend to pressure, exert the influence of your will towards the matter and don't give in, make them give in, its a game, like any other aspect of working, win it

I hate menial jobs. This is what the world is coming to: jobs that people without degrees HAVE to work so they can pay for constantly rising prices on rent and electricity and gas. And of course they can fire you for any reason they please. My roommate got fired from a job because she was gay (althought they didn't put that on the official termination report.)

I really have no advice for you, but I do think that this whole situation is bullshit. Good luck.

It does seem kinda dumb to sack me over a bottle of drink, but my boss couldn't care less when I told him that I intended to pay for it, I guess it's the principal of breaking company rules and breaking the law which I can't argue with.

To be honest I don't mind too much if I lose my job as I don't enjoy it anyway and I don't think I could work with my collegues or boss anymore even if I kept my job with them thinking I was some sort of shoplifting scum. My big worry is how the hell do I get out of not giving a future employer a reference for the 1.5 years I've been working at my present one?!

If I hear those words then I will make it clear that Iam very pissed off about the decision, like you say, I have nothing to loose.

...on another note I have since contacted my boss to ask if I can have my written work references back from my old job, he told me that I can't as they are part of my work record. Is it legal for him not not give them back? (UK Law)

so ask them how its right to force you to come to work sick, but its not right for them to compesate you somehow for it, and ontop of it all punish you for it?

if you serve drinks you must of surely spread your germs and gotten someone else sick.....i would tell him your planning to call up the news papers on how he treated you and how he forced a sick worker in to spread the germs to everyone in town....someone will have ate there and gotten sick....if just one person comes forward you have a nice lawsuit on your hands....well there hands

i firmly believe you could easily get your job back if you just word this shit right...and you need to talk to "district manager"....go over your bosses head and get him fired...its the least he deserves!
