Limewire is a load of crap but maybe you don't have the correct codecs to play the file?

VLC has all the codecs you could need embedded within the player, thats the beauty of it.

Really? I didn't know that. I've been using VLC for years but have always had the latest codecs installed on my system anyway :shrug:
